They are following a simple Microsoft style Command and Conquer approach to the Internet much in a similar fashion to how the software and OS market was won early on.

The key isn't to invent necessarily but to innovate and provide solutions to the questions people ask the most. Also to provide solutions to questions people haven't asked yet to be ahead of the curve.

While I don't own a single damned shared of Google stock I would be way long on their stock still even at what may say is an inflated price.

Sounds like someone that's looking to kiss ass for a possible acquisition to me.....

Yahoo could start by taking all the fucking clutter off of the main page and keep it simple on front like they used to and Google does now. They look like a portal now because they catered to the average aol user mindset.

That exec should be shot and pissed on for saying something like that to the media. No wonder Microsoft and Yahoo are loosing all their good employees to Google. Who would want to work with a "mediocre" company that is just happy to maintain market share. Jeeeeeeeeeesh!
