The Google Ad Sense Test
 

I have an account I have had with them for a while... I have noticed lately I am earning roughly $.02 per click on one of my non adult sites. With the bare minimum being $.10 per click it really got me thinking - what percentage do they take? They sure don't make the figures open to the public. I am sure though if someone dove in deep enough they would be able to tell by looking over their financials.

Anyways..

I checked a keyword in my Adwords account to see what it would cost for me to take a top 3 position. To take the top position it would of taken $9.85 ... to take the 3rd position it would of taken $6.42. I then did a search on google and watched the results that came up. Leaving this page up...

I then sent a family member a couple states away my site and told them to read the verbage of the ads and the url in the text at the bottom. The number one listing on the google search I did just happened to be verbatim on my site - meaning Google should be geting paid $6-$9 for that click, right ? I told him to click it ... he did .

There were two other advertisers on my page that were in the top 5 of google's search results on my original search.. I had him click those two as well. So it's fair to say I made google $15.00 .. at least

I checked my AdSense account 2 hours later, I was paid $2.36 - Putting google at paying roughly 20% explaining my $.02 a click perfectly! I can't wait until the lawsuits over Google having a monopolistic mentality start up - you can't fly other ads if you use Google AdSense? At least that's how it used to be.. They are asking for Microsoft to take them on..

I'm ripping their ad off my site.. would rather not earn the measly $10 a month knowing google is profiting $40 from me making $10 ..
