A quick English Lesson - Lose vs. Loose

Lose - Something you misplace, something that is not there anymore
Loose - Not tight

Get it right. Jesus.

websiex 01-26-2006 03:11 PM

I doubt anyone is stupid enough to mistake those two, and if the person does it is probably a typo. :2 cents:

GatorB 01-26-2006 03:11 PM

Yes I am surprised by how many people are that stupid as to not know how to spell LOSE right. it's not like it's a typo like "TEH"" or something.

LOSER = a person that can't spell LOSE or LOSER
LOOSER = a "loser's" mother's pussy as compared to other women's pussy

no... no 'looser' on gfy would ever make that mistake.

kristin 01-26-2006 04:29 PM

Too & to
You're & your
Loose & lose

They go and on and on ... people will never learn. It's the best when they are trying to burn someone when they can't spell.

EdgeXXX 01-26-2006 04:31 PM

Now if they would just learn the difference between sell and sale....

u-Bob 01-26-2006 04:34 PM

My exact thoughts. :)

Webby 01-27-2006 12:26 PM

While on this topic... It's time there was one version of the English language and not perverse variations on it.

From next Monday, kindly stop spelling words wrong - humour is not "humor", organise is not "organize" et al.

The Webster dictionary will be pulled off the net and cease publication to stop this idiocy.

If anyone wants to be "different" - make up your own language and don't call it "English". :winkwink:

PS.. And start driving on the correct side of the road and make it clear to law enforcement how to drive properly. They need to learn the proper way sometime.

Wiggles 01-27-2006 12:31 PM

haha didn't realize people made this error, so simple to recognize the difference too.

monro 01-27-2006 12:34 PM

Why don't you write to England and ask?

Please adjust your post and correct these errors...

Realize is realise

Recognize is recognise

The difference is easy to recognise :winkwink:

Correct... the way it should be!! :1orglaugh

EroticySteve 01-27-2006 12:38 PM

Amen, it's about time someone brought the lose/loose correction to light.

I'm sure that most people here are at least High School gradutes.

If English is your second language, I accept that as a valid excuse and I'll admit your English is probably way better than my knowledge of your language, so props to you.

Evil Chris 01-27-2006 12:39 PM

While we're at it...

congradulations <-- not a word.

there are a lot of commonly misused terms in the formal English language:

advice, advise
prophecy, prophecy
affect, effect
troop, troupe

I LOVE Little Brown Asses 01-30-2006 04:40 AM

My advice to you is that you advise their friends over there that they're too drunk to fuck two girls with no sense of humor when we all know their asshole is so loose it's easy to lose your dick in its cavernous recess.

It's not difficult.

Italian, French & Spanish have their origins in Latin whereas English (And German obviously) have their roots in Germanic, although the etymology of many English words come from Latin and Greek.

Whilst its easy for the English to pick holes in the "Americanisation" of the English language, its not right to moan about what side of the road everyone else drives on as the pioneers of the motor industry were German and American.

Ah fuck, yeah they drive on the wrong side.
