I predict, the new Sex.com is going to blow up again into a banner farm.

Looks like it's starting now.

This is going to be awesome. :pimp

IceMaster 01-26-2006 06:52 AM

Because nobody who ever owned it bothered contacting me for help on extracting all the gold out of that goldmine. That site could gross millions daily, without much of a problem.

Draft something up and proposition them. "You never know." :thumbsup

Peaches 01-26-2006 07:28 AM

IIRC, the only sex.com made good money was when it was a banner farm - makes sense to go back to your roots :)

It's still 1998 for all the people that land on sex.com certainly not 2006 :winkwink:

Pornwolf 01-26-2006 07:40 AM

Nick, you are the only person I have ever seen that said Sex.com traffic rocks.

And that is why you are a designer. And not a salesman. Sales is 90% of everything.

Are you really this stupid? Is anybody?

polish_aristocrat: I don't have to find anyone. They find me every day. :)

It seems like a lot of designers should be running programs, to hear them talk ;)

Phoenix 01-26-2006 07:58 AM

i have done well with sex.com's ppc traffic...i hope they can continue delivering good traffic. Looks like everyone is getting banner spots there now?

no one asked us:(

slapass 01-26-2006 07:59 AM

epiccash is sending their sex.com traffic to their affiliate program. I wonder how that is working out?

sure :)

in my opinion it's a myth nowadays that all surfers on sex.com are new, as internet simply matured

surely, there is a bigger portion of new surfers on sex.com that f.e on TheHun, but still not all are new anymore and the experienced ones will very rarely click on "1998 style" banners

and also type-in traffic on sex.com won't convert 1:100 as it perhaps was the case in 1998 - i have a few more targetted type-in domains than sex.com and they do far worse than that...

s9ann0 01-26-2006 08:05 AM

bannerfarm rocks

You've got a point.....I agree, not all surfers on sex.com are new....I said who
LAND on sex.com:winkwink: I think the owners of sex.com bought it as an online
real-estate investment and are not so much interested in developing a
business out of it.....hence the bannerfarm. They probably gonna sit on it
for a while in order to resell it again.

Someone who really wants to setup a serious porn business could just as
easy brand a new domain which is far cheaper than sex.com and use the
other 13,999,995.05 for content, marketing and what not.

:pimp

No, designers should not run any programs. They fucking suck at sales.

microdotman 01-26-2006 08:22 PM

The New Sex.com Will Do What It Says On The Site
New Owners Have Only Had A Week Of Dns So Far And Have Doubled Revenues Already
It Will Take A Little Time To Quadruple It Using The Plan Outlined
And Obviously There Hasnt Been Time To Design Anything
Relax

Actually, if you'd read your Kotler, you'd know that marketing is 90% of everything, and sales is only a relatively small part of marketing. (example: the costs of gaining a new customer are generally up to 5 times as high as those of keeping old ones, therefore, if you screw up on customer retention, it is rather unlikely that just sales will save your ass)

adultchica 01-26-2006 08:41 PM

It doesn't really matter how shitty graphics are or anything on that page, it's a goldmine !

uno 01-27-2006 05:35 AM

I'll bet they'll make more as a banner farm again than that ppc stuff they had.
