Can you tell without looking a difference between an 128bit rate mp3 and a 192bit?
let' see by doing some poll
|
Yes without a doubt, but I have worked with music in studios and been doing car audio and SQL competitions for 15 years so I kinda have an ear for it.
|
Interesting, often I can, but that's not always the case and I'm afraid it's just guessing and not real indication if a normal ear like mine can tell the difference.

I can REALLY tell a difference in the VBR encoded files especially. You will hear in mid song the tonal differences and the change in soundstage.
Now I will also say that it would be hard to tell a difference if the two files were ripped from two different sources or machines or software etc. And I have noticed anything over 192 doesn't actually mean better... often times it is too hissy or distorted on the lower end. |
if you have good speakers/headphones you can tell the difference...
|
In my car I can really tell the difference. The sub woofer doesn't thump as much, and the bass seems muffled on the 128s. I rip everything on alt-preset-extreme with the lame encoder anyway since I'm not looking to save too much space, but still have a lossy backup file.

working in a radio station my ears have become tuned to listen for artifacts in the signal , so yeah can tell the difference between the 1 bit rates , 128 just sounds so tinny , even 192 isn't much better
|
yes you can

With good speakers you can tell without a doubt.

If you can't tell the difference, make an appointment with a local otologist tomorrow.
