Are you happy with your ISP?

I am in the midst of switching from cable to DSL. I ordered the DSL Extreme package exactly a week ago and I called to see why the installer didn't show like he was supposed to at 1pm. When I called, they had now idea what the hell I was talking about.

I jumped thru the hoops and talked to a number of people from ther today only to have to replace the order that I already placed a week ago. I told thme that I made my living online, but that made no difference: I was just going to have to wait 4 more business days to have the modem delivered (counting the weekend, another week).

I called back and told them I was just not going to be able to do that and finally got somewhere. They are now shipping the modem overnight.

*sigh*

How do you guys feel about your ISP?

Turboface 01-26-2006 03:35 AM

Ah, crap. Sorry for the double thread (http://www.gfyboard.com/showthread.php?t=568342). I am on dial up at the moment and went back to correct the subject there.

:disgust

Jakke PNG 01-26-2006 03:37 AM

Yeah, I'm pleased with mine. :)
Been with it for 5 years and I've had no need to change.

Jakke PNG 01-26-2006 03:38 AM

I have their 3l33t plan too, they always upgrade me to the highest speed they have available, which has happened a few times.. and price has only gone down. :)

My ISP rules - i have roadrunner. My motom was fucked up (i fucked it up, lol) I called them about it and they replaced it with a new on 3 days later. ;)

I also overpaid them one month. They send me back the extra the very next month. Roadrunner is the best! :thumbsup

I'm very happy, I have XS4ALL fast adsl at home 12mbps and at work well.....
ehh 1 Gigabit....but that's because my office is inside the datacenter :winkwink:

Our provider is now giving better service after a new player goes online.

I just love the competition, bring the best of them :)

cant complain one bit, fast, always up, never any billing problems and so on. Comcast btw

Pornwolf 01-26-2006 05:44 AM

Comcast here too. Never had any problems.

Stallion 01-26-2006 06:31 AM

Charter cable here, so far not so bad.

phogirl69 01-26-2006 06:36 AM

No, I have comcast and I seem to lose connection every 20 min or so, it's been like that for at least 5 MONTHS. I called for the tech guy to come to our house, all he did was give me a new modem and I STILL lose connection all the time. I hate calling cust svc and dealing with them over the phone so I just live with it.
I hate talking to cust svc people, I get stressed and irritated, I just don't want to deal with it.

When it goes out I just unplug it and put the cord back in the modem and it works again after a min.

everestcash 01-26-2006 07:12 AM

You have to have at least 2 ISPs all the time, some fault tolerance is a good idea in networks, as in hard drives.

BlackCrayon 01-26-2006 07:21 AM

i am not happy with them at all. at first they were great but now i have to reload pages constantly and they blocked bit torrent traffic. i would get dsl but its not available where i am for some fucked reason. makes no sense because i am in the middle of suburbia in ottawa.

Antonio 01-26-2006 07:32 AM

couldn't be happier - I pay end up paying about $300.00 every month for my Internet, that's what? only 10 times more than the folks pay in the US or Europe, oh and I have the fastest one availible here - 1 Mb line, all in all I pay 10 timaes more for a line which is 10 times slower

the joy of having idiots in your government

BlackCrayon 01-26-2006 07:36 AM

i forgot to mention my isp is rogers.

Sosa 01-26-2006 08:08 AM

What ISP is that? I'm supposed to have a new DSL ISP put in today. If it arrives here today anyways.

blazin 01-26-2006 08:34 AM

Got cable from blueyonder here in the UK, 2mb at the moment but getting upgrading to 10mb soon.

Very satisfied user.... its been down maybe twice (for scheduled maintenace) in the 4+ years I've been with them

selena 01-26-2006 08:50 AM

I love my cable company. I've been with them since broadband came to my area, and have had very few issues.

One of them was an intermittent connection issue that was a bit harder to track down, but they have an outstanding tech guy who stayed right on top of it until the situation was resolved.

TimeWarner rocks. Just upgraded to Premium Service and I should have my gear today if I'm lucky.

Vitasoy 01-26-2006 08:57 AM

Other then the bandwith download caps, yes.

fuzebox 01-26-2006 09:33 AM

Never had an ISP I was happy with... It gets even worse when you move to a third world country.

Manowar 01-26-2006 09:38 AM

Well, I got the modem on Thursday and the service was supposed to be activated yesterday. It took a number of calls before someone realized that there was a typo in my login info (they misspelled Turboface) and that was the reason I could not connect.

For as frustrated as I have been over this whole fiasco, I just don't care anymore because I am online and flying again at last. Woohoo!

:thumbsup
