Do you network multiple computers thru a wireless router?

Is just me or networking thru wireless sucks?
Sometime, I see the shared devices on the other computer and other time I don't see it. Is that normal? |

my linksus works like a charm

yes, that shit happens to me ALL the time on XP...it fucking sucks
i will be in the middle of a file transfer between 2 wireless computers, through my router, and it will lose connectivity....when I go into the network neighborhood, everything is gone, then reappears |

Fuck. and the store rep told me the D-Link AIRPlusExtremeG wireless router was better the cable version I had!

I don't like wireless, the idea that my data can be picked up over air waves makes me uneasy, even if its convenient. Screw it, give me cables and wires anyday.

what sort of distance are trying to cover , how big is your house , brick walls or is it plasterboard , and fridge or microwave in the path
you could try getting a external antenna for the router |

I personally hate wireless. I always use wires. Only time wireless is convienent is when moving around my place with a laptop but thats it.

Plus at my day job I install network cabling and fiber optics for people/businesses so I usually don't suggest wireless to them :1orglaugh |

my linksys 802.11b router has been acting up lately, im going to eventually get the b/g, but i love it for the most part. 2 Desktops and 2 laptops, plus the xbox. :)

You probably have weak signal, try to either boost signal from the router or attach some sort of antenna to your wireless cards.
With 128bit encryption, I would also be looking at locking down your MAC addresses so only the cards you want on the network are on the network. |

my linksys router works great, got a wireless g network set up.. transfer files all the time.

We had a lot of growing pains getting everything to work properly...but as of right now, things are working good and we arent having any difficulties with the 4 or more hooked up to the wireless No one disappears and we don't have problems with file transfers.
