Anger Management and Webmasters

Is it just me or do lots of Webmasters have SERIOUS and I mean serious Anger Management problems?

Plus depression and anxiety also seem to run among many wm's blood.

What the fuck are you trying to say, asshole?

Ahh fuck it. I'm going to go crawl in a ditch and die by drowning myself in my own tears.

All we want is a headrush
All we want is to get out of our skin for a while
We have nothing to lose because we don't have anything
Anything we want anyway...
We used to hate people
Now we just make fun of them
It's more effective that way
We don't live
We just scratch on day to day
With nothing but matchbooks and
Sarcasm in our pockets
And all we are waiting for
Is for something worth waiting for
Let's admit america gets the celebrities we deserve
Let's stop saying "Don't quote me"
Because if no one quotes you
You probably haven't said a thing worth saying

Sex, drugs, god, cash, America

We need something to kill the pain
Of all that nothing inside
We all just want to die a little bit
We fear that pop-culture
Is the only culture we're ever going to have
We want to stop reading magazines
Stop watching TV
Stop caring about hollywood
But we're addicted to the things we hate
We don't run washington and no one really does
Ask not what you can do for your country
Ask what your country did to you

Sex, drugs, god, cash, America

The only reason you're still alive is because someone
Has decided to let you live
We owe so much money we're not broke we're broken
We're so poor we can't even pay attention
So what do you want
You want to be famous and rich and happy
But you're terrified you have nothing to offer this world
Nothing to say and no way to say it
But you can say it in three languages
You are more than the sum of what you consume
Desire is not an occupation
You are alternately thrilled and desperate
Skyhigh and f**ked
Let's stop praying for someone
To save us and start saving ourselves
Let's stop this and start over
Let's go out - Let's keep going

Sex, drugs, god, cash, America

This is your life - This is your f**king life
We need something to kill
The pain of all that nothing inside
Quit whining you haven't done
Anything wrong because frankly
You haven't done much of anything
Someone's writing down your mistakes
Someone's documenting your downfall

Song was written in 1996 by KMFDM.

I think it describes exactly what most people feel around here.

I do not think that is an "Adult Webmaster Only" problem.
The problem resides in being anonymous. People read things and what you say does not really matter but the ability to say what you say becomes less hindered.

It is this anonymous state that brings in a sense of security and the result unleashed is a "Super Human" ego driven by text.

Few are truly able to communicate properly through the medium, it takes time seasoning and a growing thick skin to become accostomed to other super ego's about this medium.

You can call me a broke looser, take my failings that have managed to come afront here on this very board and watch those with less security take advantage of the situation to appear better, more upstanding and classy hoping to position themselves in a better light.

At the end it does not mean shit.
You are meaningless, what I am saying to you is meaningless because at the end of the day...

You still have yourself to contend with no matter how hard you might try to avoid it.

Its the inner conflict and it is within us all, every single person, some are just better at coping with it while others are not. It boils down to a subject of maturity. Which is why we may see some 30 year olds much like myself behving like a 6 year old from time to time. But I am an artist full of conflict.

Glad I know that, to bad no one else does.

But at the end it does not matter.
Facing the reality of not being of any matter or substance is what brings forth frustrations and anger.

I think that when webmastering starts to take over your life and it turns into something that is no longer enjoyable, sure I notice alot of webmasters/ companies that are just angry assholes. Its from being overworked and underpaid, or underworked and overpaid to where you angry asshole just because you CAN be...

Everybody has anger and rage -- it's only human. Where people differ is in the manner they choose to express it. As a general rule, I try to avoid methods of expression that cause injury to others. Obviously, this forum facilitates expression. Less obviously, it facilitates expression that may be interpreted in different ways by different people. It is common, I think, for people to misunderstand each other here, and for definitions of "injury" to vary widely. Part of the appeal of GFY -- and of virtual places, in general -- is that it allows us to transcend ourselves, to be other than we are or think we are. In my opinion, this is generally a healthy development for human beings. We all face frustrations in our lives and those frustrations give rise to un-worthy impulses. The ability to act on those impulses without the usual liabilities and consequences we would face in the "real world" encourages some of the people who participate in GFY to behave aggressively, offensively and in ways that would result in their removal from free society, if those same impulses were indulged "outside". We must ask ourselves what is more important: 1) That we accept what is worst in ourselves as inextricable and appreciate that we can indulge those things here with greater freedom from consequences, or 2) That we aspire to be more than we have been, and provide the real world with an example of responsible self-government that generations after us will admire -- ?

My vote.

2HousePlague - I agree, but I was talking in a broader-spectrum of things like in everyday life not just limited to GFY

Webmasters are no different from anybody else, except for having GFY as an optional forum of expression. How would you have a clue about them or their feelings, but for what you see them do here? Whenever I meet them in real life, they are making an effort and keeping up appearances. If we get closer and become friends, I offer them my ear and my understanding. What are friends for?

most might have gotten used to getting things in just one click of a button and somehow their patience-thread have shortened. but I guess we all go thru things that will somehow drive us to the edge until we totally lose it.

Doctor Dre 01-26-2006 01:01 AM

I don't think so... boards are all about persona and trying to have character. The easiest way of trying to build up a character is with anger and by bashing other people arround. Beeing postitive and constructive needs way too much cerebral use for most of the people arround here.

Babagirls 01-26-2006 01:04 AM

"overworked and underpaid....does that exist in this industry?"

Exactly my reason for starting.:thumbsup

DamageX 01-26-2006 12:21 PM

I highly doubt it. GFY does bring out the worst in people though.

Of course its a serious problem. They're surrounded by porn all day and chicks that most of them stand no chance in heaven or hell of fucking because they're too fat and lazy to put down the dingdongs and Jolt to get some exercise so they aren't so disgusting.
