Sort of seems silly to allow fusker sites to promote anything in the adult business, considering they are 100% hotlinking scumbags.

But you realize that they are getting paid to steal from other webmasters, use bandwidth, and steal content and use it without permission (without the context of the website, such as what google images does)?

They don't thumb it and link, they link the big pictures... if you get in the wrong place in fusker, they can totally wipe a 10 mps connection... effectively a DDos attack of sorts.

i see all sorts of big sponsors on crack sites, torrent sites, password sites, etc. pretty common. traffic is traffic to many.

Just a simple script that runs through the fusker #'s and reports them as "illegal" so they get removed. Most of the bigger fusker sites now have an image verify box now so it makes automation impossible. This site doesn't though.

I would like to see the replies of any sponsor who profits from stolen traffic.

It is very easy for smaller website to get burned by the "fusker-like" activity. Not only do we lose sales, but the bandwidth overages can can mean the difference between having a profitable month and going in the hole.

Hot-linking sites are bad for business and the people who run than are only slightly better than the people who support them. :2 cents:

fris, I have all the hotlinking protection up, but new fusker sites appear on a daily basis, and they all suck traffic away. Some of the more inventive sites (not fusker) fuck the headers so that htaccess is less effective.

I shouldn't have to stand next to my server with a gun to keep people from stealing from me, and I would think that the good and honest people (relative term, I know) of this business would take a stand and not accept traffic and financially reward people who's entire business model is based on stealing from people who don't lock the doors tight enough and don't post a security guard.

To me it just seems obvious... maybe I am just missing something.

BTW, my fusker buddies get to enjoy many good views of ******* :)

probably because most webmasters are smart enough to enable .htaccess and don't care about these sites. live and learn and move on like the rest of the cattle.

The issue is companies that act like they are good citizens, and then turn around and send checks to sites that steal from others to make money. They violate copyright, steal bandwidth (which means others incur costs), and generally steal from everyone.

I don't understand why anyone would deal business with people who's entire business model is theft.

How do the more inventive sites "fuck the headers"? If headers are messed with on an "attacker" sites script to fetch an image and serve it to users he incurrs bandwidth charges for the image proxying, i doubt anyone would do that. If you mean headers are messed with on the user end, well that has nothing to do with fusker type sites rite?

No one usually cares UNTIL it affects their own bottom line. A designer scammed you, and proof was shown ? They still get plenty of work, and everyone else overlooks it. Someone stole your content? Most won't care, until it's stolen from them too. Sponsor caught fucking several people over, but pays others on-time too ? Again, no one here really cares until it affects their own bottom line.

Spamming, spyware, adware, lying, shaving, stealing, etc.. We're a big greedy dysfunctional family with double, triple standards.

Juicy, let me give you a simple hint:

Get your programmers to write a little program that goes out and scans refering pages for terms like "fusker" or "password" or "lolita" or similar in the refering URL. You will save yourself much grief in life if you ACTIVELY look for these troubles, rather than waiting for something to come out here.

Fusker is a blight on our industry, and anything to lower their value in life is an improvement.

I hate those fucking things. They cost me close to $800 in bandwidth overages one month, because the damn things started linking when I was out of town and not regularly checking my MRTGs.

Its nearly impossible, unless every client browser is configured not to send the referrer header, in accordance with the HTTP spec.


I know of one way to get around this, but I haven't seen a single fusker using it (and I've seen thousands of fuskers in my logs)

well i checked your domain and we have several gals listed and just few pics hotlinked,like 15 or so. Doesn't look problem to me, but I can't tell if thats the case for everyone
