Identity theft is probably the number one security risk online.

XX_RydeR 01-26-2006 03:05 AM

Doctor Dre 01-26-2006 03:13 AM

Paypal Pishing is all arround the internet and have been for years ... that's nothing new

Jarmusch 01-26-2006 03:17 AM

What we don't see here is that link probably goes to some ip address.

adultchica 01-26-2006 03:31 AM

It's more st00pid paypal emails. I can't stand those. I get them at email addresses that have no paypal accounts. How obvious can you get

Pryda 01-26-2006 04:05 AM

Pretty sure in the e-mail itself it would of gone to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/fish.php -_-

96ukssob 01-26-2006 04:24 AM

This message would scare off a good bit of idiots...

http://bossinthecity.com/ownage.jpg

the best ones are the .info scams with the paypal.com.user-15350.info those look pretty close.

back in the day i feel for one of these... but to bad for those suckers cause i only had like $1.12 in the account!

Nicky 01-26-2006 04:24 AM

Some idiots probably click the link....

woj 01-26-2006 04:56 AM

I don't get it, you didn't use the actual url?

Explain that to me please.
The link in the first post points to paypal.com. I get these eBay and PayPal scam mails a lot and they always point to other domains.

Usually when you mouse over the link it's some IP or fake paypal addy. The one in your post seems to be legit. I haven't clicked it. Even though it looks real, is it a fake paypal link?

I'd rather ask now instead of getting owned in my future.

JamesK2 01-26-2006 12:21 PM

lol all you idiots saying it's not smart

I am 100% sure the average internet user will believe this e-maill. Sure it's dumb for a fucking webmaster that's spending his whole life behind a computer.

Screaming 01-26-2006 12:24 PM

Looks pretty good.

lol, first i thought: smart? its not..
but now i understand ;)

TheJimmy 01-26-2006 12:35 PM

I just got a phishing email the other day that looked wicked authetic, saying they thought my account had been hijacked because someone with a foreign IP had logged in (yeh I occasionally surf from diff locations so it made me stop and think)...

everything was almost perfect, but when I logged into my account I didn't see a notice requesting the same account verification (which was really extensively asked for in previous email)...

damm they're good...almost got me

:pimp

czarina 01-26-2006 12:37 PM

I dont have an account with them anymore. So I just delete the mail.

Raven 01-26-2006 12:38 PM

The newest ones come from alleged sellers on Ebay, wanting you to respond to them....they aren't sellers. They are phishing. But, the email looks like it's a question or a response from a seller.

It may be "smart" but it's certainly not "new"

It's heading in the same direction as mortgage spams, which is good in a way. The more people see phishing emails the more likely they are to realise that something is Not Quite Right. Of course, on the way several will still be burned.....
