I saw this a week or so ago.
It had my brain kind of pondering it all. Since it was not to damn long ago that SBC was Pacific Bell and then many years ago the courts ordered AT&T split up into six or seven companies. Found it kind of odd that Pacific Bell err SBC then bought its parent company some 22 years latter. |
I guess their $1 BILLION ad campaign to let the world know isn't money being well spent..the rollout for telling the public was right at new year
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |
Side note....did you know in December AT&T/SBC was losing 30,000 customers A DAY to other phone service providers like Vonage? At least, that's what my brother-in-law told me. He works for SBC.
|
SBC bought ATT. They are going to be using the name ATT again. Where have you been? Old news for months

SBC was Southwest Bell (Tex, OK, etc), not Pac Bell. SBC bought PacBell, Amertitech, and now AT&T. Plus a lot of other smaller companies along the way. There were originally 7 CLECS. Nynex, Bell Atlantic, Bell South, Ameritech, Southwestern Bell Communications (SBC), US West, Pacific Telesis. Now there are only a few players left since the divestiture of telco some 22 years ago. Funny how that works, and I am sure plenty of money was made along the way. :disgust |

I worked there 6 years, and 2 years at TDS. Still have many friends at both. Noone's losing 30,000 to Vonage. If they lose one line, they are always bawling as they always have. I am not sure about where you live, but here in the midwest, there are very few remaining players in telco. You have the incumbants, Verizon, SBC, and then TDS. That's about it. All the rest other than the locally owned are now defunct or gave up, sold off their market share. :disgust |
My mom works at headquarters down in detroit. I never heard her say anything about them losing 30K a day. especially to that company (which i have never even heard of)
|
thats 2 years old......

Sorry you are correct, how I typed it did not come out right. I was trying to say how Pacific bell just recently became known as SBC. |

Regardless, they are offering VoIP phone service, or broadband phone service if you prefer. Using your existing internet connection, they use VoIP to deliever your landline. Yes. Old news. Yes, SBC is changing their branding over to AT&T from SBC here shortly. :pimp |
