:thumbsup :) :thumbsup :) :thumbsup

we dont care about server stats.. gfy owns a hosting company.. bw is cheap.

quickreply might be a bigger drain, but that drain comes from more people posting. the more posts, the bigger gfy gets, the more the banner spots are worth.. right?

so come on man, click the switch and give the users who post here daily a tool they use and enjoy.

everyone can clearly see that everyone wants it back. not one thread has been made.. "man, i sure am glad quickreply is gone"

its us.. the reg daily posters who make gfy what it is.. or atleast thats what id like to belive. shouldnt we be happy with our gfy experience?

show some love :(

"man, i sure am glad quickreply is gone"

I sure am.

Less fucking worthless posts. Perhaps since people have to take the time to click "reply", they'll also take the time to put some thought into their posts.

Persignup Qon 01-23-2006 08:19 AM

this is drama? :eek7

..btw, SIGnify, bitches!

so, seeing youve got nothing worth a fuck to reply, and odds are your sig will get owned due to your own lack of anything to offer.. im happy with your post.

candyflip 01-23-2006 08:19 AM

Quick Reply = 2 banner impressions
No Quick Reply = 3 banner impressions

:winkwink:

:winkwink:

that makes sense now that i think about it.. but minus that 1 banner impression = another post, making more people possibly see/click the thread/ want to reply.

Brujah 01-23-2006 08:21 AM

It's a lie. Quick Reply is less of a drain on server resources, and reduces the bandwidth.

ServerGenius 01-23-2006 08:48 AM

I concur, no autoreply means less bullshit replies, less sigwhore replies, etc, etc
think about it.....GFY will be a better place without the quick reply :upsidedow

fucking thank you...

nothing is going to slow down the power of see sig.. its as much a part of gfy as juicy is.. never going anywhere, under any reason

you could ban the words see and sig and people would come up with cleaver ways of adding it it.. pics, diff spelling, the full 9

so no. killing quick reply isnt going to stop see siggers..nothing.. is going to stop see siggers..

I see a decrease on ads revenue.

TexasDreams 01-23-2006 09:07 AM

It's a lot more than just clicking a switch. With the upgrade I had to go through 49 templates AFTER just the standard upgrade to make things compatible with the new board code. Roughly a bit over 20,000 lines of code. I'm over half way there with 29 templates fixed, and 20 to go. This was not a simple upgrade, it was actually 16 upgrades that I had to go through all in one shot. And I had to go through a lot of homework and effort to get it this far. Most of the work has been done on the weekends, and late nights, and a lot of things happening on MY development server, not the companies. I figure I've got probably around 110 hours of MY unpaid time into this upgrade.

Quick reply will be back soon. But considering that I'm doing most of the work on weekends and late nights on my own ticket, seeing people do nothing but bitch and moan isn't going to make me want to fix it any quicker. :Oh crap

Why on earth are you doing this in your own unpaid time? That just makes no sense to me.
