NBA basketball is weird...

81 POINTS????

WHAT THE FUCK?

that doesn't even make sense in an amateur street game...

what was the score at the end of the match? did all other players scored like 20 points alltogether for the Lakers?

alexg 01-23-2006 05:29 AM

and yes I know it's the league with the best players in the world and all... but I think it would get boring after a while to watch a team play when you know it's all based around one star player who's an amazing individual...

Donners 01-23-2006 07:32 AM

I think its cool, cool like my mom and dad

Probably the best players in the world.. the style in which they play isn't the best.

XXVIII Olympiad in Athens

Basketball is a team sport. A well calculated 3 point shot beats a 2 point show boat slam dunk all week long.

I would say that is half and half correct. It is about teamwork true and yes we do have the best players as far as talent, but over all there is nothing wrong with their ability to play team ball, but it must be said that they have no problems with THEIR teams. Previous dream teams dominated the world, they were the best of the best players who had enough league time as to function as team players. Take a NBA championship team that is used to playing together and put them in the olympics and they would have done better than a bunch of players who were not used to playing ball with each other such as the ones in the last few olympics.

Why are high scoring games so suprising? There is no real physical means of stopping a team from shooting from the outside, you can get in a man's face all you want, but a player with a fade away jumper who knows how to shoot can hardly be legally blocked and you being there is nothing to him, scoring is going to happen and with free throws, 2 and 3 point shots it is not ucommon to get into the triple digits.

If only one man or two on the team is dangerous, why not double team them in man to man? The reason is because the other players will then get the ball and score. This is why the zone exists, it is never about one player, it is about the team and their lead player, same thing in any other sport, you find the main name of the team scoring the most, this is why his/her name got big in the first place now isn't it?

YES the players in the NBA are the best in the world without question.
However NBA it self is what causes the game to suck at some points.
Because the NBA is designed to make money ... its a franchise .. its not pure sports anymore.

So slam dunks win over strategy and show wins over teamwork.

Non the less ... the LAKERS ROCK this year. They remind me of the BULLS of few years ago.

Don't you forget that your team Maccabi Tel Aviv is made of players that could never make it or survive in the NBA. And that's the real reason why your team won the chanmpionship...imagine real player come and play there ?:winkwink:

If you want team play look at the Detroit Pistons. They're only 33-5..hmmm maybe you're right about the team thing after all.

I wouldn't say that....
Maccabi won against the Raptors in the pre-season matches...yeah, the raptors are weak and pre-season doesn't mean much, but still...

Also, Sharonas Yasikevucius (Maccabi ex) is playing more than decent for Indiana this season...

but yes, I agree that most of Maccabi players couldn't be NBA stars...

and I fail to see your point... I said I agree that there are much more individual stars in the NBA than in europe... I was talking about the team play which sucks... the lakers just give the ball to Kobe, and he shoots... that's basically it.. there's no such thing in europe...in any team.

ball hog dude, easy

tristan_D 01-23-2006 04:54 PM

its the upredictability that makes NBA so exciting to follow

yeah, but Chamberlain scored his 100 points in a 160 point match..

the Lakers scored like 120 or so two days ago?

that's the difference
