Age old question: DARK or LIGHT
 

Creating another new site and I again am at the crossroads of that age old question.... black/dark background or light/white background... sigh.

Its a site built strictly for SE hits if that makes a difference.

Then check with WG. I know fuck all about SEO, but it would seem to me that the less html clutter, the better. So just default the page. white bg, black text, blue links, red vlinks.

But again... I'd check with WG.

i like light coloured sites, but i always fuck em up and end up going dark anyway haha

I've always made my sites dark..don't like things hard on the eyes

You know what they say..."the darker the berry the sweeter the juice" :winkwink: I say dark too easier on the eyes!

Sorry to bump this, I was just doing a search on my nickname. I've done both dark and light background promotions on SE's and I'd say that the light ones generally do a little better. Not really noticeable to the point where I think its the background that affects the sales pitch though.

id go dark unless your doing a teen site and want the hot pink on white appeal

light background... it is pleasant to the eyes

if light is a lie, go dark
if dark is the enemy, then make a dirty shade of white. recount.
if you made yourself believe in GREY, watchout...

When I was in school. The teachers alawys preached white background/dark text holds a surfer attention longer...

Thanks for the bump WG I went with white background and seems to be doing well. :thumbsup:

For SE there is not difference. The text color must not be close to bg color in order to be more readable for visitors.
