What Makes a Good Affiliate System?

I?ve been reading a lot about MPA2/3 and NATS and how each others systems are better and blah blah this and blah blah that.

Now my question is what makes a good affiliate system to you? For example are you the kind of person that likes to have everything built into the system i.e billing, gallery generation, member system, support and statistics or are you the kind of user who just buys a system for tracking sales and payouts and nowt else?

What are the core features you use and what features would you like that for whatever reason are not included in the above.

stability, customizability, scalability and the ability to run faster in conjunction with increased traffic.

the ultimate key of course is accuracy. does the affiliate system use the most reliable tracking methods? does it use cookies or ip tracking as its core method etc..

The problem with most aff software, custom or not, is they build it backwards. They build the software to run the program first, rather than building it for the processors first, for all the different processors, so you know ever bit of data they give you and you need to give them. This is the hardest part.

Now, do the easy part, and build the program. Use an expandable template system. Add in all the standard features for webmasters, and make it as simple to use as possible. Admin wise, stats, if you can track it, display a site for it, AND make it possible to customize admin stats templates. What one person likes stats wise, another person wont.
