Anybody good with measurements and fractions?

I am cutting tile for my bathroom shower floor and I cant figure out these measurements.. lol

http://www.dansouliere.com/pictures/tile.jpg

the tiles are 11 - 3/4 Inches and I need to cut 9 square tiles from them.

The blade is 1/8" thick

If the tiles were 12" and the blade was paper thin it would be damn easy to figure out.. lol

Just for clarification, do all the 9 resulting tiles have to be the same size?

If not this is real easy :)

UniqueMovies 01-21-2006 11:55 PM

How much is 1/3 of a quarter inch? :)

1/3 x 1/4in = 1/12in

11.75 / 3 - .25 = 3.66666667

are you taking into consideration of the two cuts from the 1/8" blade?

1/8 x 2 = 1/4 (or .25)

viki 01-22-2006 12:03 AM

If you want confirmation, I'm 100% sure as well. Just don't fuck up the cut!

EdgeXXX 01-22-2006 12:03 AM

Ok, hold on a sec

EdgeXXX 01-22-2006 12:06 AM

Actually, I think they should each be 3.833333333333"

Yes, THIS ONE is correct. Sorry, I had the order of operations backwards on the last one.

3.8333333333333 inches each

UniqueMovies 01-22-2006 12:07 AM

I am thinking it might be easier with CM.. 11-34/ = 29.84cm

Heh, I just realized that too. You have to subtract the .25 first.

A little more grout around 2 other tiles... :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

viki 01-22-2006 12:12 AM

83/100 = x/16

1328 = 100x

x= 13.28

So just a little over 13/16ths.
