i got some bitch ass spyware today - had to remove from the registry the ActiveDesktop branch - now the captions under my desktop icons have a fugly black background instead of being transparent - nothing in Control Panel -Display fixes it

any ideas?

Right Click on Desktop > Properties > Appearence.

From there switch everything back to Defalut and try that.

Edit - Or under the themes tab choose Windows XP.

nope - background of the icon captions just turned to blue from black.

Re-Format/Re-install xp and dont let the shit happen again. ;)

Did you already do a system restore to before the spyware was installed?

boil your graphic card for 20 minutes with Avian

Right click My Computer
Click Advanced Tab
Click 'Settings' button under Performance
Under 'Visual Effecs' check the box that says "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop"
