winxp volume control display disappeared

on my laptop, i have manual controls for Volume & CD controls and when i would press Volume Down or Volume Up, a display box used to pop up (showing the level of volume or if it was muted).

all of sudden, its gone :Oh crap just *poof* disappeared. I rebooted a few times, tried a few things...no luck.

i know gfy isnt the most technical bunch but i figured i'd give it a shot anyways. i posted the same question on a technical forum i found in google too, hopefully someone can help.

:helpme

So, when you click on the speaker nothing happens?

i can adjust my volume controls just fine. the little icon is there.
the problem im having is that when i manually would hit my CD volume controls, a display box would pop up, showing me moving my volume up or down or muted. but it recently stopped doing that. just stopped poping up.

how do i get that back, is my question. :(

Ok, this shouldn't be a problem. What kind of laptop do you have?

EdgeXXX 01-21-2006 12:15 PM

Ok, I don't know if your 6000 uses Quickstart, but if it does you might try looking here and seeing if it works:
