then how long does it takes till they do it?

5 mins? 1 hour? 6 hours? 24 hours? 48+ hours?

my virtual account is with RealityCheckNetwork, I add domains instantly via the control panel.

have not used a virtual account in some time.
Though my host will add a domain in anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes depending on how many other peoples tickets are in.

Seriously, you should be allowed to add domains yourself. If you can't, definitely switch. It is too time consuming if you have to wait for someone's lazy tech support to do it.

yeah i guess i should, but these sites dont really require a top notch host, they just sit there on the current hosts virtual account with no problems, its the slow support service thats the only problem, other than that its not worth the effort to switch hosts :)

But you still pay ... You can get a small vitual with Cpanel/Fantastico from many host here for 5.00 or so ...
Saves time.

We have multiple dedicated servers, but for small projects we use RCN's virtual service. I have the $50/mo plan with them and never had a problem or any noticeable downtime. They also have smaller plans ... highly recommend that you check them out. You'll be setup in no time and never have a worry ...

yeah, I have 10 bucks virtual with them, for the past 4 days weren't able to log into my cpanel, no response on ICQ, no reply to emails, will try smoke signals in the next few days...

yep, dedicated or virtual you should be able to add it yourself . . . I can't even imagine how much trouble it would be if I had to add everyone's new domains for them

Cant understand why your host wouldnt want to have a automated system so you can do it yourself. Like baddog said, i cant imagine having to add all our clients domains for them, that would take up all our techs time.

There is no way in hell they could afford to keep enough people on staff, 24/7/365 to insure that anyone that wanted a new domain added could be insured that it would happen in 5-10 minutes.

every domain addition/removal/modification request i've ever put through to phatservers was handled in under 10 minutes.... with the simple reply "Hi Eric, that's been done."

just because you cant do it in 5-10 min doesnt mean no one else can, i dont have any experience with phatservers but i use reality check and have the same expeience. ive even requested a domain add and had it done in less than 5 minutes.

One would be amazed what a real hosting company with a real technical staff is capable of. Not everyone here running around on GFY is reselling for ABC Hosting, Inc. Some of us are actually larger than a two-man team!
