ANyone ever been hypnotized to quit smoking?

I wasn't, but I know J$tyles did and it worked for him. I'm sure he'll be around to post in here his own personal experience once he see's this thread.

My husband can do it. But he says that you have to be 100% dedicated to it, and you have to believe in what is being done.

Snake oil..you have to have an experience to scare you or have true will power for you to quit..they say quitting drugs is easier

are you sure its hypnosis that makes it work then? or willpower?

I got it done for $50....when I walked out I had to clean my house, wash all my clothes, just to get the slightest hint of smoke out because it made me sick. But, then one night getting hammered at the bar a month later threw that dedication out the window so I lit up. Dedication is what does it.

Smoking is hard to quit but I hear the hypnosis works for some and they have a laser thing too that they do now. Anybody know about that?

Yes supposedly that is like 80% effective vs. 15% or less which is what the patch, wellbutrin, etc etc do... The only place that I could find that does it is in Santa Monica... Low level laser therapy or something? It's supposed to trigger that "feel good" hormone that you have in your brain. That is what smoking does basically so this lasts like 2 weeks, just enough where you can get it completely out of your system by quitting cold turkey. I guess it takes the pain, anguish, and rage away. It's only like 400 bucks too. There's a site on it with tons of info.

getting hypnotized is just a placebo , a sugar pill , make the sub concious believe that it is true and the rest will follow

its just like in school where you did a shit job but the teacher patted you on the back and said " good work little billy "

I heard 2 people today talking about it and saying it doesnt work.
one person was laughing too much to be hypnotized, and the other one smokes within a day of it

What exactly are they zapping with a laser to make you not want to smoke?

I quit smoking cold turkey. Didn't need no hypnosis or anything else. I can still be a social smoker once in a full moon, when I have enough time to attend parties, but I never light up the day after.

If you're a social smoker, you haven't quit.

My wife did it, worked!

I know several others who did and
they are all NON Smokers.. some over 10 years now.

If you believe in it, it will work!

Nitpicker. I smoke 3-4 times a year. Call it anything you want, I don't consider myself a smoker, just as you probably don't consider yourself a drunk for having a beer every now and then at a barbecue party.

I quit smoking for almost two years now. It's solely your decision if you want to get rid of it or not..

Keep the stories coming guys - so far it looks like half of you think it's not manly enough and the other half think it's great.

I don't really care about quitting smoking the 'macho' way, I want to quit effectively.

http://www.matrixlasercenters.com they are in San Diego and soon they are opening in Washington and Florida. I saw them on TV a number of times and on channel 10 news they stopped one of the producers smoking live on camera. There is a big buzz here in San Diego about Laser Therapy for both smoking, weight loss and pain modalities. They are at Petco Park today treating the staff.

Yup... I did the hypnotherapy thing. I'll tell you more about it in a bit... just got to pop outside for a smoke first.

I used the Commit lozenges and they worked. Probably because of the flavor.... tasted like a cross between chalk and chewing tobacco.

Last time I was hypnotized they made me dance the Macarena and act like a typewriter. After I found out, I wanted to start smoking.

Yeah I tried that once, it was pricey though, cost as much as balancing gemstones on my forehead to cure rectal cancer.

Stop being a sissy and go cold turkey, my girlfriend smoked for 3 years then quit cold turkey 2 years ago.
