what am I doing wrong with this SSI?
I'm trying to get a toplist to display on this page http://www.nudebabepic.com/owngalleries/
and keep getting the message [an error occurred while processing this directive] the page is a .shtml extension and I've used the include statements in the form of both: <!--#include virtual='/home/nudepic/public_html/sloth_toplist/top15.html' --> and <!--#include virtual='http://www.nudebabepic.com/sloth_toplist/top15.html' --> in an attempt to include this page http://www.nudebabepic.com/sloth_toplist/top15.html but both statements are generating this same error on the page. I've used variations of the path statements above on php pages with success, however they don't seem to work on this shtml page for some reason. BTW, the includes do work on the page at the root url, it's just where this page is in the subdirectory and it's trying to reach a different subdirectory where it's getting this error. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here? :helpme |
Works now AmateurFlix?
<!--#include virtual=' blah should be relative to that domain root and not the server account? |
have you tried using double quotes?

Ah shit.. see what you mean.
Try this.. if the actual calling page is on the domain root use this... <!--#include virtual="sloth_toplist/top15.html"--> If the calling page is one dir down from the domain root, try this... <!--#include virtual="../sloth_toplist/top15.html"--> |
or maybe like this
<!--#include file="../sloth_toplist/top15.html"--> or even like this <!--#include virtual="/sloth_toplist/top15.html"--> I think the last one is right. I just looked at thats how I do it on my server. |
Thanks Webby & kenny, <!--#include virtual="../sloth_toplist/top15.html"--> did the trick for the .html include; however for some reason an include file statement calling a php file (for a tradescript) isn't responding the same way;
on the root url this works: <!--#include file="sloth_in.php" --> however I'm running into the same problem being in a subdomain as with the toplist example above. I've tried: <!--#include file="sloth_in.php" --> <!--#include file="../sloth_in.php" --> <!--#include file='../sloth_in.php' --> <!--#include file="http://www.nudebabepic.com/sloth_in.php" --> without any luck so far. any ideas for this one (it's the last one, I swear lol)? |

Can't you just use the include virtual methond again?
<!--#include virtual="../sloth_in.php" --> since thats how you did it last time. or <!--#include virtual="/sloth_in.php" --> |
Mmm.. don't think ya can include php's using the virtual directive AmateurFlix..
Hang on and I'll check! |
hmm, well it's not generating an error message with the include virtual however my trade script documentation says to use include virtual for the html and include file for the php; so I really don't know if this is working or not yet, even though the error message is gone

http://www.nudebabepic.com/sloth_in.php There is nothing on the page you're calling |
If there are variables on your php file... don't think they will be passed when you use a virtual include ssi call...
I've never thought of mixing php and ssi so far, but looks possible to a degree.. just testing that now!! |

Still playing with it... but looks as though it can get messy... the reverse way round is obviously easier.. ie calling in include into a php page... Found a references ya may want to check.... http://www.zytrax.com/tech/php/php_ssi.htm http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum88/354.htm OK.. who knows this stuff or used it?? :winkwink: |
