    FROM CAPITOL HILL
    Regulating Media Decency
Sen. Commerce Cmte. Chair. Ted Stevens (R-AK) convenes a full committee hearing on decency in the media. Sen. Stevens has indicated that he prefers industry self-regulation before increased government controls. Representa-
tives of cable industry and broad-
cast media, along with parents groups, attend the hearing.

Some guy on there just claimed that 75% of Americans want a government crackdown on television content.

Who is the Attorney for the adult industry who's going to be on at 2:30? Cambria?

The chairman just before the break referred to the session coming up this afternoon as a hearing on "protecting children on the internet".

Might be a good one to pay attention to. My TV's been on CNN for awhile, no mention of these hearings...

Yep I noticed that too. Perhaps they'll try to figure out a proper age-verification system, since credit cards never have been. And our standard warning pages are nothing more than a good faith effort (hey it's all we've got!).

It should be interesting anyway, everyone should be up on this stuff.

Not sure, there's no witness list on the committee's website.
