Worst hosting companies and why.

Which companies should we tell to "GO FUCK YOURSELF" when they spam our email boxes?

It's probably best not to find your host from a spam.

strictly hosting. i've never seen such idiots in all my life. never hooked up my stats on one of my domains. had no ftp access for a couple weeks at one point. crap customer service and they pumped prices up like 75% without telling me. customer service was virtually non-existent.

well i did chargeback for the last couple months and switched hosting. i gave them a laundry list of problems and nothing got done which led to me charging back. major pain in the ass, i was glad when i switched to a better host.

Fletch XXX 04-11-2002 03:46 PM

I use Webair.com and will continue to do so. tell em "Superbooger" sent ya...

Bout to get a shared server there, highly recommend them. But they wont be spamming your box.

Go to their site NOW and buy a plan.

FlyingIguana 04-11-2002 03:50 PM

those are some high setup costs for virtual hosting. bandwidth costs aren't too bad tho.

Ive suffered no downtime, I really dont carwe what it costs to set it up, once its set up, its solid, and THATS what counts.

Also Mike and Brian of Webair are really cool guys and will work with you on anything.... thats also a difference, read a few horror stories with hosts then youll know where to go hehehe...

iicinternet.com

Can someone say retards? The absolute worst hosting experience ever.

Acidhost.com actually used a fake spam mail written in russian/english (the exact same grammar and spelling as their support emails) to cancel a virtual account with no warning. Their servers were dying with the tgp traffic I was sending them. Fuckin' pathetic.

owe me $400, because they charged my credit card the month after i left them, I was going to charge it back but I got lazy when the credit card company started telling me I had to write this letter and that letter.

Strange I get a few chargebacks a day all by stealing mofo's and the first time I have a genuine reason to do it I am too lazy to bother. Maybe be I should email this story to the guy who chargebacked a $2.95 trial last week.

Anyways the reason I left them in the first place was they were total losers, so be aware.

A company called xyrid (xyrid.com) earlyer know as wizard tech. They did a bunce of shit! Charged me after I had canceled, hosting service was down a lot. Functions where not working. Think they got in truble because their site doesnt work. When I searched on google I found THIS worth reading involves Ibill hacking issues.. Well If they are not out of business and anyone looking at them as a host stay away!

Gemini 04-11-2002 10:32 PM

Webair can be as bad as strictly. lol They shafted us with some addons. Never did get emails set up and never could access their new manager thingee to do it ourselves.

And yes they DO spam from time to time.:BangBang:

Domainhosting (I think it was) didn't bother to tell you asked for something that they were going to just quietly add it to your cc. lol Ummm I need X added on to such and such, Ok, fine we can do that! What is the extra cost? None! We can do that for free (which translated to some charge or another showing up) lol But they weren't the worst out there.

Strictly? What a JOKE. They screwed with us from day one and we bailed in 2 weeks but they kept trying to collect from us for a whole month"services" and not a one of our sites ever went live from their servers. They didn't bother to shift the nameservers like they said they would.

Thie story was they'd handle it ALL, no worries for us to deal with a thing. Uh huh. :ak47:

It seems like some of tyhe larger names get all this press but they only really cater to the big guys.

LiveDose 04-12-2002 12:26 AM

Ha Ha, that's right... Flashback. Strictly does have a funny billing cycle. After we setup with them around the 20th of the month they started rebilling us on the first. We wrote them about this but just ended up moving...

I had to check my system clock, see if it was April 1st still or some shit... I figured it had to be a joke or something but no, it looks like you're serious.

Well, my 2 cents on Webair....

I used them first for virtual hosting and for the better part of a year, I was pleased with them. They took their sweet ass time fixing problems, but at least they did fix problems (unlike some hosts). I moved to dedicated with them and that's when all hell broke loose. They never got anything right and when I refered friends to them like you're doing here Fletch, my friends were overcharged all the time, the tech department down there has like, one guy working that knows his stuff. The rest pretend to know and give you a trouble ticket that never gets fixed.

Their stats never works and then they try and nail you for bandwidth that you had no way of checking. What's that? Some guy wrote a script to download a movie from your site over and over and over costing you 600 gigs of transfer in three days? Of course we expect you to pay the bill.

Whatever. Use these guys if you can't afford better, but like the saying goes... you get what you pay for.

I wish ya luck with them Fletch! :) If you ever get into trouble though, I moved to Candid hosting and Romeo and the guys over there are top notch and then some. TRUE 24 hour tech support and they really go out of their way to take care of ya.

Good Ridance to Webair! Thank God for Candid Hosting!

of course... just my :2 cents:

www.abng.com - quite good experiance with them
www.xcite.net - same
www.asnetworks.com - too good to be true?
www.hostcentric.com - opinions are devided; i hear great things and not-so-great things

fuck, there are so many of them...

Video-Post 04-12-2002 05:56 AM

strictly hosting are crooks. stay away from them.

babyhuey 04-12-2002 08:47 AM

To all you people who are bashing Strictly Hosting, I did a look up of you guys in our database, when you guys had these problems it was under old ownership/management/tech support they have all moved to the wonderful hosts you are using now and we are glad to be rid of them all. Yes we do cater to the larger sites in the industry, however we also cater the smaller sites. But we have become an elite host, so if you want the best you have to pay for it. We have been up for over a year in our new NOC with zero downtime that could be directly linked to us except for network maintenance, which has been minimal. Also the reason we do cater to the larger sites is because we are one of the best! Still, have yet to figure out who the others are though.:winkwink:

acidhost dissapeared in one night with no reason...

Bobo 04-12-2002 12:31 PM

Keep them coming. I think we should compile a list of bad hosts. Is there a list like this somewhere?

Fletch XXX 04-12-2002 12:41 PM

Webair has never spammed me. At least not that know of, and I know all of their programs and what they sell...

As for a list of bad hosts, every has different experiences.

I ws told NOT to go to Webair by a few and was told by MANy to go there... so its all relative.

I wish they would get their damn affiliate log in workin though. So I could get some coin on all the folks I refer hehehe

Bobo 04-12-2002 12:45 PM

Fletch, you're probably virtually hosted there. They are the bomb at that...very helpful and everything functional. Once you get big and switch to dedicated the uptime and stats will disappear. In other words, my experience with Webair is that they are a fantastic host to start off with when you're new, but not once you've passed a threshold where you require lots of bandwidth.
