What happened to the insurance money from the fire? Even if you are a renter you can still have insurance. $20,000 for personal belonings is not uncommon. Wouldn't a responsible person with a wife and children have insurance? Where I am from living in hotels is a hell of lot more expensive then renting. If you lack the first and last required; in this state Social Services will help you out on that.

How far behind is Spacedog on his rent? No one will ever know the truth because Spacedog can't handle the truth. Maybe when you sell whatever it is you have to sell or get whatever donations someone may give you; you should do the honest thing and attempt to square up with your landlord.

Nice guys don't usually have the things happen to them that Spacedog claims happened to him. Ex-wives don't usually disappear with the children without cause. Current wives don't leave and not return, or call, without cause. Mothers don't take out restraining orders without cause. Aunts-Uncles-Cousins-Friends-Class Mates are usually there to extend a helping hand unless that hand has been shit on before.


I feel sorry for Spacedog; but not to the extent that I would offer a helping hand. My youngest son is 26 and does not do well in life (much like Spacedog) and I have had to do the tough love thing with him. You don't help by keeping on helping. There comes a time when a man has to reap the wild wind and come to grips with himself.

1 more thing: Why not just get a job at a supermarket....

He can't live in the middle of nowhere and eat nothing, so there must be a shop around there. Just get a job there. No place to work in a tourist area ??? Yeah right

I was a lurker from the time this board went online. I became a member three months after you. I have 190 posts; you have 2785, so who is it that has nothing to do?

Luck has little to do with life. Life is pretty much what you make of it. Spacedog is in the position he is in because of who he is and he needs to become a responsible mature adult. Not many responsible mature adults become "down in their luck".

I don't need a DVD; I have three of them. One in my office, one in the living room and one in my bedroom. DVD's are not an expensive item anymore and will become even cheaper.

I spent more than thirty years in the military. My career certainly did not make me much money, but with a few investments, and my pensions money is not one of my concerns in life.

I have only been back in this business since December and I certainly don't make much money from it and don't expect to for at least another 1-2 years.

If I ever do make a reasonable sum of money from pornsites, I will turn them over to my youngest son.

I actually believe some of his story, I know so many adult webmasters who are in trouble it rings true....But like many have said if you have time to make 3000 posts then you have too much time.

I think Adult webmasters fall harder than most when they go. I have a few acqaintances who have basically degenerated to ghetto winos after finding the biz was harder than they had expected.

As well do Adult webmasters really have friends? I have a lot of former friends who are now vultures on my shoulder ... I doubt I could get anything out of them if I was in real trouble.

To all those nay sayers out there that have been telling Spacedog to just go get a job somewhere...anywhere...let me fill you in on something...

I moved from California (Mt. View) to Washington (Seattle Area) back in May of last year. I bought a house, I took some time off to get to know the area. I started working for a friend who got started in this biz almost 2 years ago. I make less then a grand from him cuz I was only doing this on a P/T basis. So, I started looking for a job in September of last year. I've got years of customer service and tech support/help desk experience...so I thought I should be working in a month or two...at the max....I went to every god damn temp agency in the area...and a few that weren't.

I was either overqualifed or underqualifed...shit...I even applied at "Albertson's" for christ sakes...and nothing has turned for the better.

Now, if I can't land a job in the middle of fricking SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, how in the hell is someone going to land a job in
"Hickville, USA?" (No offense to where you live Space but it does appear to be out in the boonies! :) )

So, just 'telling' someone to get a job is a whole lot EASIER then actually getting a job. So, lets ease up on the condemming of spacedog for whatever reason and just offer some support....PLEASE :)

Yes pathfinder but there is a difference between the entertaining bashing and trying to kick somebody who already is on the floor.
The normal flames on this board is what makes it fun I agree
but there is a line and to my opinion a few already crossed that

somebody is in the position where SD is in right now that is
bad enough....and probably for him punishment enough.

If you don´t believe it fine...nobody will blame you that.

This was not a PERSONAL attack on any one person ... more like on us (myself included) as webmasters ... I realize that this forum is called FUCKING AROUND ... but where I come from, there is a fine line between fucking around, and outright crucifiction !

Some of you guys have been nothing short of relentless, and that is sad.... I agree full-heartedly that Spacedog has made the bed he lies in ... he has probably brought most if not all of this mess on himself. I know that I was partially responsible for my situation as well) ... that is not the point.

When I was in my darkest hour 2 weeks ago, people were all to willing to come to my aid ... and I am more greatful for that than you guys will ever realize ...

I do conceed that he trails me in the popularity department, but still ... he is one of us, and more important, a fellow human being.

I think it will bo good for my karma, so I am willing to help him out.
it is not even money he so much needs (well yes he does ..) but even some resources and people who can give him the vehicles to make money on his own ...

He is at a point where he realises that what he was doing was spreading his self far too thin, and trying to conquer the net litterally overnight ... now what he needs is for a few of us to guide him so that he can EARN the money, rather than just accepting hand outs ...

As a man ... there is far more pride in earning it, than just taking charity ... I'm sure a few of us can give a brother a break ...

Having a strong Presence on several adult boards is EXTREMELY beneficial to both of these positions ... (just for an example ... I have had 4 people just today contact me regarding the spacedog saga, and also ask me about design work as the same time ... I got 3 jobs out of it ... and this happens often)

Seriously though, a distinction has to be made between bashers and those with contructive criticsm. While many people are bashing Spacedog, it's becoming more and more apparent that much of what Spacedog has said leads to the conclusion that he is an unfit parent and does not actually want to help himself.

There is a hell of a difference between a one-on-one bashing, and a pack of heyenas closing in to rip someone apart.
