A question for Epass - affects all UK WMs so I will ask it here

From the 14th Feb all visa terminals in the UK will only be taking chip and pin cards according to the press.

Is Epass going to be issuing these cards or will we only be able to use the old ones at ATMs from that date?

Thanks :)

umm you're supposed to sign there for security reasons I believe it's pretty much universal

Not all shops have it, but more have chip terminals here too, its supposed to be more secure.

Why pay 5% of your transfers anyway. Thats stupid, isn't it? :helpme

Yeah - lucky they didnt cut it up - they can do that if you try to use an unsigned card.

Visa fraud here is massive though - we have to shred all documents here as the crims go around and search through your garbage.

The new chip cards will help - but its fucked if you use a card from a country that dosnt have them as standard yet.

I will ask about this and get back to you.
I haven't heard anything about switching to chip cards.

Thanks Keyser....

According to our resident Visa expert, it is only UK issued cards that will be affected.
The Visa terminals will still take Visa cards issued outside the UK (and France) the
same as before.

:)

Brilliant - although I really should think about getting myself a UK account....

Thanks for looking into it.

Would be good if epass came out with a chip version so we can still spend in shops

Thats what Keyser was saying - we still will be able to use them - they will only be blocking UK issued non-chip cards.

We switched to chip cards here in Denmark as well but all terminals have both a chip and a strip reader.

I have a visa debit card from the state that works on chip in pin in the States but isn't able to be read by them in the UK. They just have me sign and they will continue to do that with forgien cards.
