Whats the deal with myspace?

I'm not from the US, so I believe that's the reason I never really have heared of it. Yet it quite amazes me, how popular this website is. Can somebody here tell me the myth of myspace.com?

Did they have an odd advertising campagne? Or just booked all the traffic available on the internet? A heads up here would be nice :winkwink:

Leave porn now.

Do NOT pass go, do NOT collect $200.

Contact local Amway distributor and give that a go.

Good luck and godspeed.

;-)

i'm just interested in the marketing concept of myspace.com cause i never heared of it and recently discovered the thread about this "hotti" person and thought it was very funny. also noticed that myspace has about every american listed so i'm asking why it is so large and if it just poped up or exists for several years ...?

Hmmmmm.

Many things I most certainly am, full of shit is not one of them.

And maybe I did read it wrong, which made my response likewise wrong, but if read the way I understood it, my response made all the sense in the world.

Live and let live.

okay again: i dont want to register at myspace.com - i don't want to meet cool teens - i know that it's impossible to buy all traffic that exists

i'm just interested in how it grew that fast. :2 cents:

so it was a huge advertising campagne including some extra deals with tv stations, music labels and other celebs? no interesting idea - just lots of cash, right?

i dont think myspace ever did any sort of advertising maybe in the early days..

the guy made it as a kinda community site and it exploded to bigger numbers than he probably ever thought and fox networks bought it from him for a half a billion dollars..

he had a unique idea and got rich being one of the first to make it.

nico-t 01-18-2006 04:36 AM

well to take your lee hotti example, look at him and his friends, they look all the same like sheep following the mass
same is with myspace, sheep following the mass

kaktuz 01-18-2006 04:41 AM

its not unique idea thats the funny thing , there r loads of big communitys.

deleteduser 01-18-2006 04:48 AM

I think the reason why MySpace is so big is because of the mass network of people it has. I opened an account no less then a month ago and people I haven't seen in over 5 years found me. It's also the trendy and cool thing to own with teenager who hace much friggin time on their hands. I've also been seeing more and more companies actually making humorous and "hip" MySpace profiles with videos and links to the products site. It's not a good site at all in my opinion, The Web sites coding is a jumbled mess and the server is slow as shit.

Pornwolf 01-19-2006 01:42 AM

Myspace is a testament to the viral marketing powers of the internet.

No ad budget, just word of mouth. Whoever does a myspace in China is gonna make a ton.
