I don't think that's accurate.

I'm pretty sure they changed it from this year, to 2008.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. In order to facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Administration is proposing to complete it in phases following a proposed timeline, which will be published in the Federal Register in the near future.

This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. This new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States. Most Canadian citizens, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and to a lesser degree, Mexican citizens will be affected by the implementation of this requirement.

stickyfingerz 01-17-2006 10:55 PM

1) The new rules don't apply until 2008.

2) You won't need a passport to enter Canada, although our imagration people will probably ensure you have one, since,

3) You will need a passport to get your sorry ass back into the USA

It is part of the conservative/republican agenda to scare your ass into thinking that you are only safe if you have a war monger as a president.

I can assure you that Mexico is not going to require a passport to go to TJ. They would go broke in a week.

You people don't have passports?

SmokeyTheBear 01-17-2006 11:19 PM

They just had something on the news about this . the kaw was supposed to go into effect 2008 , but now they are changing it again , and making it so you DONT need a passport , but DO need some sort of new i.d. card that they havent thought out yet.

Yeah, I heard something about that too. I wasn't sure if it was definite though. It's supposed to be easier to renew than a passport, so that's good, but still nothing more than a cash grab.

I've been there but they were still slower than I needed. I ended up getting the expedited service from Nick Patel and Bing Bakeesh on 33rd and Madison. 2 days and I was Audi 5000.

DWB 01-17-2006 11:53 PM

hmmmm. that would mess up how we get in and out of cuba via mexico without a trace.

Uh oh, I think we are better off sticking with the passpor instead of the new cards with the rfid in them. I don't want anyone knowing I was in the room. What if I have unpaid parking tickets and I am trying to go on a vacation. As soon as I walk through security... GOTCHA!

Nope, I'm just fine with this little book with the fake plastic leather around it.

Naah, a boat is only $5000 to get there without anyone knowing. Maybe less if you know the right people.

Juicy D. Links 01-17-2006 11:57 PM
