Wonder how crazy the bidding will be this time

Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2006 Collector Car Auction starts up on the SPEED channel tonight. Looks like they came across a few more previously unsold concept cars from GM to put up for bid. Last time a car like this was up (1954 Oldsmobile concept) it went for $3.2 million. Wonder if this car will be "the" high price champ for the event. I'll predict it goes for $2 million.

Harley Earl?s 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special Lot 1304. This car, one of only two built, was created to go on tour on the West Coast to help spread the excitement of General Motor?s latest concept car offerings.

I'm glad they started televising these auctions, they're pretty fun to watch. :thumbsup

Interesting results from day 1, the "bargain hunter" day of the auction.

------------------------------------------

TOP SELLER, $118,800.00. 1967 PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE GTX 2 DOOR HARDTOP "HEMI RECREATION"

WAY TOO MUCH PAID!!! It's a clone, a fake, numbers don't match. Might be worth $65-70k, but someone got taken to the cleaners big time for what this one sold for.

------------------------------------------

SWEET RESTORATION! $29,160.00. 1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE 2+2

The preparation and detail was spectacular on this car. Being a 2+2 (two regular seats, and two microsopic seats in the back for small children or pets) probably kept the auction price down.

BARGAIN DAILY DRIVER! $11,016.00. 1965 FORD FAIRLANE 500 2 DOOR HARDTOP

:thumbsup

Maybe I'm just too de-sensitized to porn, but there's a LOT of these cars that make me moist. :Graucho

Plenty of live coverage on the SPEED Channel of the auction, and they do a lot of detail pieces on the cars.

that's actually a terrific car, plymouth did not match chassis #s and motor #s in 1967 and the hemi motor installed in that car was cast in 1966, thus the *period matching* designation and the price commanded

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 01-17-2006 11:25 PM

Nice car, i like it.

i might be off a year, i can't remember if plymouth started matching numbers in 66 or 67, if that's the case, that car did go for a premium :thumbsup

Apparently there was some confusion on the final bid, the official price was $4M even.

That's one expensive bus ride! :1orglaugh With the 8% buyer's fee, that's...

$4,320,000.00

http://www.blingstudio.com/futureliner.jpg

They said the seller was only expecting it to go for $600K, boy did he hit the lottery!
