Is there a such thing as too much porn on a single page
 

I built this page with over 350 thumbs. Is this too much.
It's pretty much alot of categories, with thumbs for each category.
It don't seem to have any affect on load time. Just wondering if it's too much.

I have a page with 2800 thumbs.. it takes a little while to load :)

well, counting in my head, between 3 & 4 seconds, but I'm on a 100mbps connection, so dial up surfers would probably wait, what, like maybe 10 seconds???

I'm no expert, but I play a doctor on the Bold and the Fugly. So here's my take:

Yes, 350 thumbs is too much. It's too much for a page load, and it's too much for a surfer. 350 thumbs are so many, a surfer successfully loading the page will forget what the fuck he / she is doing -- trying to find porn and throw that credit card down.

Limit the thumbs; target a good dozen or so of them, with some quality text and get that credit card to be entered.

That's my $0.02, as a doctor of love on the soap I mentioned above.

you'd be better off making more pages. LIke categories or whatever. Took ~30secs on a cable connection to fully load the page.

35.9 KB is the size of 1 thumb on that page :Oh crap If they're all that size....35.9kb x 350thumbs = 12,565K

14 seconds on 400kbps dsl.

btw: it's not just the total size that will affect the load/rendering time.

- a page with lots of tables and lots of pics will take more time to render (especially on "older" pc's)...
- it will take more time to download 500 files of 10 kb each than to download 1 file of 5000 kb. (some browsers use persistent (keep-alive) connections, others reconnect for every file) (also most browsers limit the amount of connections to a server at the same time...)

you're right. More pages = better PR & more pages for spiders to love.
also, keeps targeted traffic on the right page.. well, back to work on this one.

it takes forever to load (it's getting hung up loading some thumb), theres a JS error, and there's actually 2,578,370 bytes just in images.. + another 133k of html.

get a fucking clue buddy. obviously you have no friggen idea what I did today & this page was built a while back & just added some extra tables today & it took me oh, a whole 15 minutes... & no I am not lil2rich4u, so if you have nothing positive or constuctive to add, leave my thread & go scrub your pimples off your ass.

No more like 10 minutes. that is if they wait for the page to load. But the 10 seconds is more right, because they wont wait, and will move on to another site.

odd. how come it loads so quick for me? I cleared my cache & visited again & I'm not getting the slow load???

Took awhile to load..even on DSL ,also many broken images

Slow loading on broadband for me.

Or at least what I consider slow. I'm not patient at all with websites. I want a full page load in about 5 seconds, or I am gone.

Counting by 1 1,000, 2 1,000, 3 1,000 etc., I got to 18 1,000 before it loaded and it still didn't load all the thumbs.

and you gotta work on that logo.. just use some nice text effect and keep it simple and clean
