mainstream gaming traffic

Anyone have much luck making money off of main stream computer gaming sites? When I say gaming I don't mean poker sites and so on. I mean computer gaming such as counter strike, world of warcraft and so on.

Anyone run any gaming site networks? I have something in mind that would generate a decent amount of gaming traffic for a specific niche of games. So I'm wondering if many people have much luck with that kind of traffic.

i know of people that run xbox, ps2 kind of sites , and game cheat sites that are pretty big. never asked them about revenue. i assume they do well. they get lots of visitors.

Depends on what kind of website you're planning to run. If it's a relatively high volume news/information site, you can sell traffic at very high prices to the game publishers in that particular niche.
If it's 100% forum then dating/adsense should cover hosting costs and bring some extra money on the side

Used to have a gaming forum... domain got fucked by GoDaddy and BuyDomains managed to grab it before I could. They're selling it for a minimum price of $900 now... sucks.

That project would've been very big by now if it was still alive.

I can tell ya it takes time or a good investment to get big in that business, but once you're big you can make a lot of cash with it.

I'll start it up again soon I think, by the way. It was fun to manage.

Yea I have a few services in mind that I think would go over well with online gamers. I was also planning on building a central news/info network of sites that would help feed the services I had in mind.
