RSS Feeds Question ( Help )

Is there any program that has RSS feeds that i can use on my blog, but when they update they use my Ref Codes?

FlogTheLog 01-15-2006 09:36 AM

guess not :(

fris 01-15-2006 09:38 AM

i dont think that is very ethical, taking other peoples content, and changing their ref codes to yours ;)

I'd like programs to use RSS feeds as a way to syndicate their hosted galleries.

A script could be written to access, say a sponsor gallery output builder:

http://sponsor.com/gallery-rss/?refid=[myrefid]&siteIWant=[sponsorSiteId]

which would spit out an rss feed (just xml) with FHG name = title, FHG link = link, FHG description = description. The affiliates could just write a scheduled task to access that and automatically update their FHG databases.

Seems like the standard format for rss xml matches nicely to current FHG gallery formats.

Anyway.
Dunno why I just wrote all that shit in this thread.
My apologies.

i use RSS a lot. but i think the problem with the model you propose is that sponsors don't update their RSS feed lists every day (something you would need).

FlogTheLog 01-15-2006 09:58 AM

no it doesnt have to be every day

are you talking about displaying new hosted galleries every day on a TGP from feeds provided by the sponsor? maybe i misunderstood the premise.

True.

I wrongfully assume that the "affiliate" FHG rss aggregator script would be able to know which items to update and which ones to discard because they're already in the DB.

Basically, I like scripting automated solutions and figure this industry has so many similarities among programs and sites, why can't most of it get automated.

spacedog 01-15-2006 10:01 AM

get me on icq, I know some sponsors that have this...

Amen! I'm working on a system for distributing galleries to a network of sites via RSS, and it'd be great if I could just plug in the sponsor's gallery feeds.

RSS is best used for dynamically changing feeds. in my case, I developed these two sites:

Horny Bloggers

this aggregates a bunch of people's porn blogs. when they write a new blog entry, my aggregator will automatically diaply the headline and short summary of the blog entry (automatically once a day).

i also developed this site:

SEO Information and News

this one aggregated as many SEO discussion boards, blogs and other news sources into one aggregator. this one, again, updates dynamically

but the assumption is that the source updates regularly. most hosts just give you a list of static FHG's that don't change (unless they change their backend system).

Dating Gold will give you a feed to their blog with your affiliate code embedded in the feed link

Trixxxia 01-16-2006 10:43 AM

Topbucks has an RSS feed for it's FHG updates with your affiliate code embedded in the links. flogthelog, is this what you need?

I'm not a pro with RSS so if any of you pros that know exactly what you need will allow me to pick your brains a little - I'd appreciate understanding this more and if we're on the money on how to make it work for you.

Thanks :)

Sounds good - any example feeds we could take a look at?

Screaming 01-16-2006 12:39 PM

Topbucks does it.

Hi there,

AutoBlogger Pro will do that and using the word relinker you can assign ref codes for sponsors to any word or phrase you want. This is all dynamic and can be changed on the fly.

ICQ me at 218-449-257

I can show you some demos of how it works.

I'm also putting the finishing touches of an post auto-generating system which is perfect for making galleries and things on the fly given a database of images and text. (And yes it is free for all existing customers, as always)

Principal Coder . Relink Software

I want to clarify that the Relinker and Rewriter modules will not change any original links or ref codes. This is very unethical, obviously, and is not permitted with the software.

As this topic came up in another thread, I'll have to ask you too. As I've understood it, AutoBlogger Pro is implemented as a bunch of plugins for WordPress and / or modifications to the WP source code. Thus - as I've understood it - the source code should be available freely. Where could I download it?

Just to clarify, and we talked on ICQ, is custom coded. The parts that are exclusive are encoded, the remaining parts are left unencoded.

:)

Here's a sample that I put on a page on one of my sites to check how it looks:
http://www.free-sex-pics-tgp.com/indexrss.php

Not sure if that's the output or if it was the software I used that set it up that way :helpme *did I mention I'm not very knowledgeable on RSS :1orglaugh

nakki 01-16-2006 01:42 PM

Any chance of seeing the actual feed?
