I Was In A Haunted House Yesterday!

I was at a funeral reception and my wife says to me, oh this is the house I told you about way back. Her cousin bought this house that was in serious dismay and it was owned by an old man who was a serious alcoholic and died in the basement and his wife had died in the kitchen.

Well when my wife's cousin bought it she had to put in some serious work into the property and as soon as rennovations started things started happening. For example when she was working on the kitchen some of the drores would fly out and the cupboards would slam open and shut at night.

It got so bad that the new owner had to bring in a priest and exorcise the place. Apparently the exorcism worked but I still felt a little uneasy in the house and didn't want to hang around a long time.

Have you guys ever experienced anything supernatural or lived in a haunted house?

DH

georgeyw 01-15-2006 06:51 AM

heh - that reminds me of the Penn & Teller episode where they poke shit at the 'ghost hunters'

Personally - i'm a bit of a believer of the supernatural - more in the sense of esp rather than ghosts and the likes. I can't count the number of times i've felt something was wrong and a family member or someone close to me was in trouble etc...

DutchTeenCash 01-15-2006 06:52 AM

theres a guy i know whos into that, pics and vids n all, dutch site he has, pics of ppl sitting at a reception who are dead 100s of yrs ago.

its dutch but check it, pics of the gevangenpoort, its the oldest prison in holland, some pretty rough stuff happened there, 4split iron virgin, you know

they went fri 13th and made pics of the orbs they saw... imho theyre blurred spots but hey maybe theres life there :)

My father died 3 or so years ago..we were very close. A couple weeks back I was thinking about him and wishing he could send me a sign if he was there. My stereo came on all by itself...,coulda been coincidence I'm not sure...but maybe it was him. I don't know. I'd like to think it was.
Also my uncle used to live in a haunted house, out in the middle of nowhere....very creepy place. When I was there although I didn't see anything I felt uneasy in one of the rooms and not the others...I like to keep an open mind about such things.

georgeyw 01-15-2006 07:04 AM

I'm living in my gran's old place (she's dead now). And every single time i put some porn on the tv turns itself off!

biftek 01-15-2006 07:39 AM

I have an open mind in regards to the supernatural. I lean more towards an energy theory. Left over energy or perhaps multi dimensions (different levels of existance).

Since my father passed this summer my family has witnessed some odd things. An alarm clock going off when my mother is upset (its not even set for the time its going off), lights going on etc. My dad lived a simple life but was very complex mentaly. He believed in a higher life force (his theories leaned more towards aliens). I like to think hes trying to come back and tell us something. Who knows it could all be in our head.

Its interesting regardless.

Sounds like someone just stumbled on a new niche.

So the new owner brought a pedofile in a white collar to do a freak dance to the invisible man in the sky and everything is okay now? Well just so long as we stay grounded in reason and common sense here. :1orglaugh

What makes you think that this energy is from another dimension? Sometimes it's much closer than we think : Ourselves.

Example :

When you are grieving, the chemicals in your brains are imbalanced, you're like a new person for a couple of months even years.. Some people might have the power or energy to make those things happen. (i.e, crazy things with lights, electricity.. etc..)

Yes I have heard that theory before. Something like you mention is very possible.

Could you imagine if we could learn to harness that energy and use it at any time. Perhaps some people do that already.

hahaha DH that reminds me of a story about Jamie's aunt, they bought a house many years ago that was supposedly haunted. The person who had lived there before had had a heart attack or some shit and fell down the stairs. During the fall the house key got jabbed into the person's chest snapping it in half. When they took possesion of the house the realtor gave them the same key soldered back together....talk about creepy. Apparently the uncle died not too long after in that same house after seeing some crazy demon at the end of the bed saying that he was coming to get him later that night.

My day job is located on the original site of the old indian residential school (do your homework if you want to know what went on in these schools) One of the old buildings is still standing and looks like something from out of a horror flick inside. I usually see figures in my office once in a while, nothing clear, but can make out someone standing there for a few seconds.

Its freaky!

Don't EVEN get me started on haunted houses. I had to illustrate a story about 20 years ago for a newspaper about registered haunted houses. In many states including NY if there are 'disturbances' aka ghosts, you have to by law inform all tenants and potential buyers of it. I actually fucked up and moved into the same house I did the story on! All kinds of weird shit went on.

Then for years I worked for a paranormal website and people would go to haunted houses and shit. I would never have believed in ghosts but to tell you the truth, the phenomena is REAL. Whether it's spirits or not is a question mainstream science hasn't or refuses to resolve.

There was some weird stuff going on here a few years ago.

The first time was when I had just laid down in bed. I heard a high pitched snapping noise right by the window. Kind of like an electrical type snap. Then about 5 minutes later there was a very low pitched loud boom. This was definitely not lightning and thunder though. These sounds were very different from that.

Then some time later I was in the kitchen and I heard that same exact snapping noise in the living room this time. Walked in, nothing going on in there.

Probably a few months after that I was in the basement and I heard this incredible explosion on the other end of the house. It was similar to the boom I had first heard, only much louder. It sounded as if the neighbors home blew up. So I ran upstairs and outside, and nothing. Peaceful summer day.

On two other occasions I heard that same boom noise while I was in the basement. People have told me it was probably the water pipes, but that's not it. This noise each time was so loud that it should have rocked the house, but I felt nothing. Only heard it.

Then the climax of it all, and the last thing that happened, was when I got up from my desk one night and turned my back. I then heard the sound of someone slamming their fist on the desktop. It was hard enough to cause the keyboard trey to become ajar and slide out. I walked over and the air in front of the desk was quite a bit colder than the rest of the room. I even moved my arm around the area and could feel where it suddenly would become much colder. Then it went away.

seeric 01-15-2006 12:03 PM

i'd put that bitch back on the real estate market.

Geeezer 01-15-2006 12:03 PM

I think I live in one now, weird things happen and sometimes my missus feels someone getting into bed with her and when she looks there is no one there.

I wouldn't mind if a ghost got In with me as long as it touched me up a bit :1orglaugh

The other night she got up and when she went back to bed her pillow was out of it's case.

Doctor Dre 01-15-2006 12:10 PM

I don't beleive any of this stuff personally.

We have a ghost that has moved with us three times. Little shit here and there happens like things vanish, and a few days later reappear. BUt on night we had this girl working for us in our home office. in the room, my and my wifes computers faced on wall, and she was on the side wall facing the door. All of a sudden she screamed, and come running over. We asked her what happened, and she told us that an old man in pajamas walked by the door, and went into the master bedroom. At the same time both dogs were growling at the bedroom.

We turned on the lights, and there was nothing there. The dogs just walked away.

tristan_D 01-15-2006 07:21 PM

even in my house I still have those eerie moments when I feel like another entity is watching. I get those goosebumps even in the middle of the day. but I try to ignore it coz I don't wanna make a fool out of myself by being frightened in my own house

A dog and a cat are best defenses against ghosts. They can perceive things we won't or can't. There was an old episode of the Twilight Zone called "The Hunt" about an old mountain man and his dog Rip. I won't give it away but rent it and it will fucking freak you out.

The ability to see or perceive these phenomena is a tribute to your own heightened awareness and ability to face things. Most people can't and/or won't.

Stacey_JoinRightNow 01-16-2006 12:29 AM

To be honest I havent see some un usual things or person yet when I was in the haunted house (grandma's place)I feel so uneasy, the wind is so cold and the feeling of someone is watching you...

Babagirls 01-16-2006 12:39 AM

i've seen 2 "ghosts" in my life. 1 was my great grandma about 6 yrs ago and 1 was some lady (no clue who she was) a few years ago, she was so damn beautiful though and in this long flowing Victorian dress..i felt so safe...scared but safe LOL when she scared me (i woke up and saw her by my bed) i screamed really loud and then she disappeared. but i didnt feel harm..just scary to wake up to someone staring at me. lol

saw them both clear as day, as if they were real. other than that, i've had no creepy encounters with ghosts or whatnot (thankfully).

bump for the ghost stories :thumbsup

eroswebmaster 01-16-2006 03:03 AM

Okay my story.
I used to moderate for an old MSN chatroom that discussed aliens, ghosts etc.

Anyway I was chatting this one night with a guy who called himself Wizard, had claimed before he was psychic.

I'm in my office and I had left the tv on in the living room which was right outside my door...I had the tv on CNN well the next thing I know the baseball game is on...the channel had not just changed, it changed to the Texas Rangers baseball game.

So I mentioned it to Wiz joking around, and telling him about all the claims that the building was haunted.

I lived in an old 10 story high rise in downtown Fort Worth.

His response was..it is, there's a woman standing behind you now.

So jokingly I said..."well ask her if she's busy I need a date for Friday I'd like to go dancing."

He said..."she said she would love to, her name is Theresa."

Now the funny thing is my cousin Theresa had passed, was killed with her two children by a drunk driver, and at her wedding years ago she kept asking me to dance with her and I was always a bit embarassed.

To this day I still get chills up my spine.

Another thing is the house I'm currently living in. I will all of a sudden get a big whiff of cigarette smoke, my mom smoked when she was alive.

I mean to the point that it burns my noise. I could be back here working and go into the living room and mention it to my family and they'll say.."yeah we were just talking about it."

No one in this house smokes. There has not been a smoker in this house in over 2 years, and even then we never allowed anyone to smoke in the house.

My nieces say they smell my mother's perfume every now and then.

jade_dragon 01-16-2006 07:46 AM

Ever notice how those ghosts orbs are always flying around in basements and attics or there are more of them in old houses with no one in them than anywhere else. Reason is because those little points of light are out of focus dust orbs reflectng the camera flash, you never get them without a flash being used....

I have never had any of those experiences so I am not going to talk shit, the human brain makes real whatever it wants to so it really does not matter what I perceive, if you hear things and see things and it effects you mentally or physically then it was real enough to cause issues for you, perceived by the rest of us or not.

Funbrunette 01-16-2006 08:17 AM

Much as the "ability" to hear voices in your heads is associated with being fucking crazy. Give me a break.

HammerALL 01-16-2006 09:30 AM

I've definitely felt that feeling of uneasyness in places - seen things out of the corners of my eyes and stuff - either way it's weird - I bought a book called Real Canadian Ghost Stories that chronicles some of our most famous haunted buildings - good camping read :winkwink:

I don't think you would want that. Some say there are demons that want sex with the living.

INCUBUS - A spirit or demon thought in medieval times to lie on sleeping persons, especially women, with whom it sought sexual intercourse.

SUCCUBUS - In folklore, a female demon thought to have sexual intercourse with sleeping men.

google it.

Exorcisms are performed to expell demons from people, not alcoholic ghosts from homes.

Someome is feeding you and your wife a line of bullshit.

Eat ass and die twice already.

There is overwhelming physical evidence of these phenomena. As early as film was used they turned up and still do even on digital and voice recordings.

EVP 'Electronic Voice Phenomena' is the term. Any tape recorder can catch the voices alone.

Wow you mean there's things that are unexplained? Shocking. Must be ghosts! I mean, it's obviously the spirits of the dead. What else could it be?

I'll bet 2000 years ago people explained the Northern Lights as an act of god. That doesn't make the Aurora Borealis a fucking miracle, either.

My dogs bark if their own farts surprise them, does that mean their asses are haunted too?
