need a little help with html/script. Who can help?

This is what i want to do.I would like to copy a part of a html source line on to the page so that it shows it as a link.

so lets say line 39 has the following ''<embed width="320" height="280" border="0" align="baseline" src="../../../../moviecontent/asian/asianpounding/wmv/1/movies/01.wmv" autostart="true" showcontrols="true" controller="true" showpositioncontrols="false" showaudiocontrols="true" showtracker="true" showstatusbar="false" autosize="true" scale="aspect" autorewind="false" allowscan="true" enablecontextmenu="true" pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/download/"> </embed>''

that is all shown on line 39. Now i want to have a link visible on the page with a part as it to link to. So it has to copy a part of that link to link to that url. Now the part i want to link is ''../../../../moviecontent/asian/asianpounding/wmv/1/movies/01.wmv''

Ok does any one know what i mean and who can help me or point me to a side that can.

Thanks all.

huh how about

PHP Code:

<a href=./movies/01.wmv>movies/01.wmv</a

so just make it a link

Dark Knight 01-14-2006 05:20 PM

the thing that i would if i haven't had made all the page like that already. i need to find a way to also have people download the movie. i don't really feel like doing those 100 of pages again. :(

Dark Knight 01-14-2006 05:29 PM

any one who can help me out. any scripters?

SmokeyTheBear 01-14-2006 05:44 PM

so what your saying is you have 100 pages like

page 1
<embed src=movie001.mpg>
page 2
<ambed src=movie002.mpg>

and you want to keep the exisiting embed tag but also add an additional tag to each of the pages without having to edit each one by hand ?

SmokeyTheBear 01-14-2006 05:45 PM

shouldnt be too hard , but isnt so easy either

SmokeyTheBear 01-14-2006 05:46 PM

how many pages ? are they in the same directory ?

Dark Knight 01-14-2006 05:50 PM

yes they are in the same directory, 99 pages per directory. yes you are right about the way they are counted and what i want to do.

Doc911 01-14-2006 05:52 PM

thats easy if all the links are surrounded by the embed tags and you just want a hard link to the actual movie with a generic download now. try grep or ,write a simple perl or php script to do it for you

Dark Knight 01-14-2006 06:07 PM

doc911 that is what i want. but i never have done that, and normally i can find it out online but i can't find it. but you have put some word in your text that can help finding what i am looking for.

Doc911 01-14-2006 06:19 PM

I can't find it on the net but I can write it. Im about to eat dinner but f your interested hit me up on icq in about an hour.

Dark Knight 01-14-2006 06:48 PM

i will hit you up tomorrow i am about to go to bed. 3 in the night here. I will see you on icq tomorrow. :)

Your host?
Ask them to do the 'search and replace' or some shit. :)

Dark Knight 01-15-2006 08:27 AM

it has nothing to do with my host. just need scripter to jump in here and find a solution. seems to be hard then i thought.

The problem is , its not as easy as seach and replace or it would be simple..

Your not going to be able to predict what the movie filename is before you edit it, unless the video corresponds to something ( like the name of the html file ) i.e. fat-chicks.html is <embed src=fat-chicks.wmv>

But from the example you posted its not.

You need to make a script that will read each page detect the video inside , then create a link tot he video and insert it into the page , not impossible , but not easy.

The easiest way to do it , is use a multi find and replace tool ( sausage software ) and add a generic link to a download page of the videos.

i.e. add the same link to every page <a href=videos.html>To download the video to your hard drive click here for the full list </a>
