15 full length snowboarding videos free for download (From TGR Films)
 

My company Instant Media has released the 2nd revision of our media player software and as part of this release are now offering 15 full length high quality (1 MBPS wmv files) videos from TGR Films (Teton Gravity Research) on the service for free. Simply visit http://www.im.com to install our player application and then subscribe to the TGR feed. Also available are numerous other podcasts/vlogs/news feeds. We've purchased the rights to these films, which normally sell for $28 each on DVD, so this is not a pirate content company. Films are downloaded right off Akamai so the downloads should be plenty fast.

The player contains a lot of other tricks too that some of you content providers may find interesting ( p2p delivered rss feeds of video trailers for example).

Funny thing about this. So our company paid to license these films. As part of our early rollout we decide to just give them out for free (since we figure this is the first of many content deals).

So I post a message on a TGR snowboarding forum figuring obviously these people like this sort of stuff and would love it especially for free.

In the next 5 minutes I get 8 posts and 3 angry PMs saying I'm trolling and ripping off TGR and how this is an illegal napster clone and that I should go to hell since there was no way TGR would ever agree to such a deal.

Then 2 mintues later a mod deletes the thread.

People are lovely sometimes. Can't even give them stuff away for free.
