...and know that when you come here asking for reliable hosting recommendations, the Dreamhost whores get a whoping $97 per referred customer, and that's the ONLY FUCKING REASON why they recommend them.

I host over 10 sites with them, blowing through atleast 6-7 terrabytes per month of bandwith... i have no complaints about thier service.

haha, yeah, I agree about the dreamhost whores...
I tried using dreamhost for TGP submitting... most BIG tgp's were unhappy with the speed from them..
I used it for my blog - the MYSQL response was HORRIBLE...

they're ONLY good for little family sites...

you'll notice there's usually only 3 dreamhost whores on here, that don't post much other than in the hosting threads ;) hahah

I'm definatly not a dreamhost whore. I don't use hier virtual hosting but thier dedicated servers are great.

my point is that every host is the same around here .. sales reps all make a small fortune on their new accounts. Dreamhost isn't the only one.

The only difference is that the dreamhost whores that post here are not their reps, and the commission they get covers about the first 3 years of hosting (not counting all the discount coupons). :error

From what I gather, DreamHost affiliates can give up part of that $97 and put it towards a discount code to entice people to sign up.

So affiliates can offer $50 off with a certain code and then only get paid $47 from DreamHost. Some affiliates even give the full $97 off.

How do you think that model would work for paysite affiliates?

no shit..you get what you pay for...i got a code for 97 bucks off..that means i'll be paying about a buck and some change a month for 1 tb...if they were top notch then i would be worried :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Reps works for ONE host ... They get either a pay, commissions or a mix of both ... That model exist in every business, from selling shoes to cars, planes, plumbing ...

People pushing DREAMHOST here are whores ... Not because they are making money ... not because they are not working just for them ... because they don't give a shit about what their sucker clients will have as service ... and do so nowingly.
