Internext 2007 Dates

Thanks for all your feedback over the last few days regarding Internext (good and bad). I just wanted to let you all know that we are not finalizing dates in March of 2007. This was a big mistake due to the proximity of other shows. We are doing everything we can to remain in our established time frame (early January), while steering clear of the craziness of CES and AEE. We will come up with some plausible options as far as venues and availability over the next few weeks and will be posting a link for you all to cast your vote.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Juicy D. Links 01-12-2006 06:34 PM

Who do I invoice for attending and making a appearance?

spunky99 01-12-2006 06:35 PM

do it mid or even late january.. not the weekend after new years...

XPays 01-12-2006 06:36 PM

hi renee,

cool - post the link

Makingcoin 01-12-2006 06:36 PM

This should get interesting.

Cman 01-12-2006 06:38 PM

Yeah, mid to late January would be good. Maybe like the 15th or 20th

Besides the other shows, its also hard to travel around that time, because you have everyone returning home from the holidays. Airports are crazy.

TDF 01-12-2006 06:39 PM

brass does listen

Matt Collins 01-12-2006 06:40 PM

The AEE /CES thing is just too much for people. We want to get some distance between those events and Internext but March is too much distance. There are so many other shows in March/April. Believe it or not, we want to make it easier for people to do business, not harder. You just wouldn't know that by our actions lately. It's not all about money, but I can see how it may seem that way from your perspective. Honestly, we want to put on a show that is beneficial to our customers and make some profit at the same time.

Not sure yet. Jan/Feb are the busy convention months. Availability is tight. I will come up with a handful of viable options and provide a link for you all to vote. Fair enough?

Just so everyone knows, Renee went over and above to help me make my show successful. It wasnt just about the money, she did genuinely care that things got done in a proper manner. I thank you for that, you ROCK :thumbsup :thumbsup

Pornwolf 01-12-2006 07:21 PM

Honestly it seems like you guys really don't care about the business, only your registration and booth fees. This is nothing against you personally Renee but you guys need to really have some good conversations with some of the leaders of the business from the adult web side of things before you make this decision. Don't make it on your own.

Cman 01-12-2006 07:23 PM

There is always the option of making one big fuckin Internext, once a year. That might be cool, just because its bound to be huge.

i love avn, but i hate the communication channels over there. you guys lost money on me and lots of other people this year. again, don't take this the wrong way, but if you are strictly into "tradeshows" how can you possibly schedule shows for people that live this stuff 24/7?

p.s. i think the best thing you guys can do is keep internext away from everything else and maybe overlap the shows in different hotels like always when it was awesome.

p.s.s. i've heard that you don't like porn. is that true? i'd like to hear it from you and not on the streets.

avn has been good to me, but its always good to know who supports what. i'm geneva.

Point taken.
It's hard because we get completely different feedback - like opposite feedback .....sometimes with no general consensus at all. But that is a mute point right now. The bottom line is that these shows are for you guys. If we don't listen to feedback and use it to tailor our events to suit your needs - then we are failing you. Thanks for your post.

i'm not against renee, at all. as a matter of fact if people look at other threads on this, i am one of the ones who tries to mediate in some sort of way and i suggested that peopel send letters to try to mend things. so trolls eat it ok?

i applaud renee for coming here herself since she is the one that books these. thank you. i want the old days back.

yes.

which to alot of the webmasters means alot. it's been told through grapevine to grapevine that you do not like porn or what it stands for and that you make the bookings to the benefit of a tradeshow schedule, which is completely different than the benefit to the adult internet webmaster. again, lets keep this all to a debate and discussion level and a non finger pointing level. this is a world that i and many many others live, breathe, eat, sleep, and dream, 365 days a year, and decisions made by other people that may not be in the same frame of mind as us, affects us. i've been an avid avn advertiser up until recently.

i just want to ask questions that i know people are thinking.

i think that this show used to be one of the biggest and most anticipated shows in adult internet. now people contemplate if they will attend or not.

once again, not an attack, but merely an inquisition. i care ifinitely about this business and at least half of my life is dedicated to it. if i don't dig for the answers, then i feel i am not doing myself the respect of even asking.

i do not want to see this show go away, i have alot at stake to see it stay. i will tell you that alot of the internet people think that you guys dont care at all about them. i'd really like to see that change.

respectfully.

respectfully.

I oversee the trade show dept. and produce several shows other than Internext but they are all within the adult industry (since that is the market AVN serves). I have no personal aversion to porn, if I did it would be hard for me to work here. But it's true that I am not as involved in the industry(either porn or the Internet) as you are. I mainly focus on event logistics etc.

I appreciate all your comments regarding the past, present and future of Internext. As for AVN not caring. I assure you we care but in all honesty, I can see how you would feel marginalized. We are a large company (for this industry), we could use improvements in the area of customer service/client relations, we have an almost non existant board presence, we have other events that compete for attention, we have sales reps that seem to turn over frequently.....we are far from perfect.

The entire summer show format came out of the need for change and us trying to get a handle on the changing needs of our clients. I also would like to see that sort of change with the winter event.

Seeing how the show this year was about half the size of last year... if next year's show is half the size again, you can have the show in my garage.

I would not say that is accurate for starters; second, I don't think the size matters: quality over quantity.

You can debate the logistics of the show, but debating the quality of the attendees would be a stretch.

Just my opinion of course.

Since alot of us have to be at both shows id love to see it go back to the way it was before (Internext Show first and then the AEE show) or even merger the 2 shows togther. The foot trafffic from the AEE show would help alot of the internet guys alot, and get our stuff out to another audience that may not see our stuff. The shows will eventually move this way anyway

Its all good man. I have a nice backyard, a hottub that seats 18 people and a big bbq. The show attendess will have have to go down the street to the gas station to use the bathroom though. :winkwink:

Agreed. Thank You for still showing here to address the issues.

However, in the past year, you guys have lost 4 major players in the internet portion of your internet biz model.

Jeff Random - Truely the best salesman AVN ever had in my honest opinon.
Kimberly
Aly
Jennifer Johnson

these 4 people had the "in" with the internet side of the business. All are now gone.

One of the main reasons i personally do not actively advertise with avn online is because i had the best rep in the entire company, he left, along with some of the best of the rest that were left. Once jeff left, no one knew me from just a call book in a sales log.

Is avn online still a viable outlet for adult online biz? Yes, i truly believe that. But without that personal rapport and interaction from people who really care to know you and take care of you the way that we were for years, I decided that for the ad rates and what other publications are offering for competitive levels of exposure in our market it just wasn't worth it anymore. Other miniscul issues are not worth even bringing to light. It sucks that I am evening writing all this on a public forum, but I really feel that this stuff needs to be addressed and the adult internet side needs to be given its due credit. If I'm wrong, then I'll take the heat.

i have a big mouth. I'm not afraid to say things. I feel like such a dick because I know that the channels of information passing over there are not unobstructed, and the people who need to hear things, sometimes never do. Farley has always taken the time to listen to me and sitdown over lunches and what not to make things right.

I am an ally. This show used to be the highlight of my year. Others have now replaced that. I'm not going to fight evolution. All i can do is offer honest information.

Where do we go from here? That is what iI want to know.

If you post the link to vote on the average webmaster boards it has a shot of winning. Don't speak to the boards for feedback as half of the population are part time or no time webmasters, or outsourced employees paid only to garner attention.

Speak to exhibitors and attendees from this past show and those before. Believe me, we have a lot of feedback for you.
