affiliate payout - depends on how much traffic affiliates send and convert avg. 25%

studio payout - depends on how much video release?s a studio has. the more movie titles the greater the payout and the more the studio will make. avg. 25% payout unless your Paris Hilton and have that title ;-) then volume is key.

Wizzo, I have run several paysite over 30 and see 3-4 months rebills from my members. thats it, then I have to upsell the email and maybe make a little more or offer them a discount to come back. 40% retention.

vod does not rebill, each user that makes a purchase does 4 purchase's a year. then makes 4 more purchase's next year. 82% retention from year to year.

membership recurring billing = 3-4 months rebills more chargebacks and refunds 40% retention.

non-membership VOD billing = 4 purchase's a year with very few is any chargebacks or refunds. 82% retention


it's also the best way to DRM your studio content and make bank.

you are using DRM for Real? How much did that cost you guys to implement and how can you compete in the VOD market by providing a solution as expensive and mediocre as Real? In addition to windows DRM...

I understand that bandwidth, time, file size and quality are most important when encoding video for streaming online.

to protect studios our DRM encoders wrap the videos, in our case we use windows and real for all 23,000 + videos

we have looked into flash, divx and quicktime.

all which I am open to: what do you perfer I see your falsh video streaming does ok... but you have a very low inventory. How do you expect to compete with the aebn's, hotmovies and xondemand.'s of the world all which have a ton of inventory in several formats.

DynaSpain - I have some interest in other properties also. over 50 paysites for 5-6 years now..lol I have pushed over 5 million hits a day.

I know this: my paysites retain at 40-45% all day. month to month
that's 3-4 months rebills.. thats it for rebilling.
then you upsell the emails and hopefully sell some or trade some traffic (exit) to make all you can.

I know this:: vod stuff retains at 78-82% all day. year to year
thats with 4 purchase's during each year. non-rebilling

paysites 4 rebills 40% month to month
vod sites 80% retention yrly, 4 sales a year
