Mitsubishi EVO9 vs. Subaru WRX STI !
 

I am getting a new car next month... and I narrowed it down to the 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI vs. the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR

Both are roughly the same price & AWD

2006 EVO MR:
2 liter 286hp Turbocharged/Intercooled MIVEC inline-4 @ 289/torque(lb-ft)
0 to 60 @ 4.5 sec.

2006 WRX STI:
2.5 liter 300hp Turbocharged/Intercooled @ 300/torque(lb-ft)
0 to 60 @ 4.7 sec.

I am leaning towards the WRX STI for now, but I keep changing my mind.

I need GFY's advice on this, I know we have a few car experts.... I'd like to hear the good and bad about both cars. Maybe you can sway my opinion..

well have to admit you are an exception

both are good then, I would go with mitsubishi due to higher engine reliability.

After speaking to a guy who owns an import shop and modifies WRX's and EVO's all day long, I say get the EVO. They're faster, handle better and respond to modifications better than the WRX. Also, the new WRX design is fucking ugly as sin.

yeah, I have been for a few months.. It's a really hard choice and I don't plan on making the wrong one :) I'm taking my time for this purchase

you do good, check the wrx,evo forums by car owners as well if you haven't done so

I would say go with the Lancer. The Evo rocks but sucks when driving. Too harsh. The Lancer is and will be easier to maintain and modify. But it is a matter of opinion. Some like the Evo and some like the WRX. If you are looking to get massive power out of the car, then go with the WRX. But if you want more streetable power, go with the Lancer.
