I see design contests for logos all the time...

I see contests for post whores...

I see contests for people that can make good sales...

but what about us video editors? Why you boys ain't making any contests for us? I'd love a stab at some prize money for some extra creative work!


Some of you bigshots should try something new and give us video editors a break :thumbsup

Don't most editors have steady jobs or good freelance work? I wouldn't think a bunch of editors would waste their time with some little contest is all?

I've got almost 2 full time jobs editing video, but I do manage to have some free time here and there. Personnally, I could always fit in a contest or 2

editing can take so much time and I don't think editors would go through hours of editing just for a contest. IMHO

Depends on what you're editing and how skilled you are.

I'm usually fairly quick at my work. But thats because I know where I am going most of the time.

So anyone care to launch the first Video editing contest? :D

Because there aren't many freelancers. Most compagnies have fulltime editors

I don't know about a contest ... but i have a bunch of content that i need cut up into updates ... what we can do ... is anyone that is interested can shoot me an email [email protected] once i have 5-10 guys ..i'll give you all a copy of the same content. I'll vote based on 3 things ....time to complete ... quality ... and price . winner gets the contract. works best for me but could be cool for some of you to show case your work on gfy and let gfy vote the winner

A sponsor should put up 5 mins of footage and their logo. See which editor comes up with the best trailer for their site. :winkwink:

A couple hundred bucks for 15-20 mins. of design work ain't shabby. And like someone else said, despite havin' a fulltime gig...I still have a little spare time for shits 'n giggles.

That's how most designers feel the contests are. But there's always some broke ass motherfucker willing to whore themselves out for the CHANCE at that $30.

Offer the content, some good prizes (cash, listings, whatever) and you might have a few good submissions :)

Oh I saw it, but even charity organizations that hold contests and events give away prizes to incent people into participating.


Like I said, make an interesting offer (fansigns from tassy! or something) and people would participate :)

I hate video editing. Its time consuming, borning and uninteresting. You couldnt pay me enough to sit there and create trailers and whatnot

Thats why you hire guys like me to do that kind of stuff :)

I actually have fun doing it. Its an art. I'd rather do that than sit around and look at numbers all day

well the winner would get the contract to do the other 30 vids ... but i only had 2 guys hit me up ..so i'm going to hit them back and just see what there prices are ...maybe split the work ..
