US Soldier in Afghanistan: Great Quote!
December 9, 2005 (CNN) While interviewing an anonymous US Special Forces soldier, a Reuters News agent asked the soldier what he felt when sniping members of Al Quaeda in Afghanistan. The soldier shrugged and replied, ....."Recoil."

rofl. yep. that about sums it up.
"you're the man donny!" |

Perfect! :thumbsup

they're trained not to feel

I did a few years in the special services, and they try to train and teach you to control how to feel about what you are doing. But it is always there. |
nice..i wonder if you are ever normal after killing people right up close through a snipe scope
it is one thing to shoot with a gun from far away and spray bullets. but with those scopes you are pretty much watching them breathe in and out until you decide to take them theymust be a bit pyscho after |

hell ya good for him man

im way too out of shape to snipe anyone...lol also...you can think of how youd fell..but i bet something as simple as butchering a cow would make the average man pale. unless of course im wrong and all GFYERS are really gangsters who kill all the time..lol |
I hope it wasn't the guy who killed Pat Tillman (the former NFL player who was killed in Afghanistan by "friendly" fire).
As a joke, I can see the humor in it. Actually it's an old joke that has been around for ages. In reality however, taking lives can leave deep mental scars. VA hospitals are filled with soldiers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Many other Vets end up in homeless shelters since they can't make the adjustment back to civilian life. http://homepages.shu.ac.uk/~engrg/complaint.jpg Carry on... ADG Webmaster |
Have you been in the military Donny?
|
Reporters have no place on the Battlefield, much less getting in faces of soldiers trying diddle a story out of them. They got enough shit to worry about without worrying, "is this asshole gonna take me out of context and make me the next national controversy?" :2 cents:
Although that was a great answer! :thumbsup |

Not really. When I was in the Marine Corps my MOS was 0321 (Force Reconnaissance). I served as a Scout-Sniper on quite a few occasions. I guess the training does have a lot to do with it but trust me, there are very few, if any, "psychos" in special forces. |

The guys I went through with Did try to pass Sniper school, out of the 15 that tried I think only one made it, It's prob the toughest school mentally other the than SERE course.
He had to shit and piss himself and stay hugging the ground for 3 days he said. I couldn't do that. |

I thought so too, but there is actually one that is tougher: Air Force Para-Rescue. Talk about going through hell..... |
I say good for him, solidiers need that 'just takin care of business' attitude.
The problem is the people who sent him to Iraq to begin with. |
Quote:
So I did my research and found out I could go for the Airforces Para-Rescue since they don't trade eachother's medical profiles, (well I found a loop hole) So I actually went after a space in the USAF, I got a letter of acceptance from them but I had to wait till my knee healed to go for it and by then I was already working in adult again, so i didn't go through with it. |
Edge I'm originally from Austin and i plan on moving back! Hit me up on icq 20402228 or on aol killeenangel28 plz

Did the indoc passed but never got the call... I was MCSF 2 yrs in Panama then to 7th Marines I finished up At MCT at SOI as an Inst for Wpns and Tactics Sgt.Maj. Eric Miller was the SgtMaj for Force down in Flores in Pendleton who was a good friend and mentor... wondered if you knew him Many close friends were SS so I was wondering when you went through |

It's amazing how easy it is to make false assumptions about others. I would have never thought there were this many prior mil (esp. Marines) on GFY (or in this industry). I am respectfully honored. Semper Fi I don't believe I had the honor of meeting Sgt.Maj. Miller, however his name does sound very familiar. BTW, have you heard where they moved the new Scout-Sniper school to? |
Now that cracks me up! :1orglaugh
|
Another classic one. :1orglaugh
