Yahoo domain $3 ?

I just went to yahoo to see the news headlines and i saw them advertising their $3 domains. Is this new? Much cheaper than godaddy.

It's not new at all, they say it's promo, but it's been like this for months ...

SmokeyTheBear 01-11-2006 12:34 AM

note the little "1" next to the price...and then the following at the very bottom of the page:

"1 Web Hosting and Merchant Solutions discount offers are open to new customers who purchase Web Hosting or Merchant Solutions and apply for 3 months, after which the then-current monthly or annual fees will be charged. Domains, Web Hosting, and Merchant Solutions discount fee offers expire on and must be redeemed prior to 1/25/2006. No other notice of the expiration of this offer will be given. All offers are open to new Yahoo! Small Business customers only, and are only available through Yahoo! Small Business. Customers are limited to one offer per customer on a single account for customer's own purchase only. Offer is nontransferable and may not be combined with other offers and discounts, exchanged, or redeemed for cash. Other terms and conditions apply; see the Yahoo! Small Business Terms of Service when you sign up. Yahoo! expressly reserves the right to change the price or features of these services at its sole discretion at any time. "

I don't remember exactly WHAt was the problem, but there was one, definitly do a search about it.

Pornwolf 01-11-2006 12:54 AM

So does this mean you have to buy a hosting plan as well?

BluMedia 01-11-2006 12:54 AM

You get what you pay for and Yahoo has the worst customer support on the planet. I don't care if they paid me 3.00 per domain I wouldn't use them.

put it this way , they are so bad i had to transfer my domain to another registrar 1 month later at $15 , making the total price 18$ because they coudnt understand why havind domain locking was important , or why i might want to change my nameservers more than once a month.. ( among other things )

Fizzgig 01-11-2006 12:59 AM

It doesn't sound like a very good offer at all, does it? They should be more careful about what they put their name on.

Jarmusch 01-11-2006 01:00 AM

As with everything in life, you get what you pay for.

Pornwolf 01-11-2006 01:00 AM

That's incredible. You would think a company like Yahoo would have it together.

you usually get what you pay for, I would rather pay a few extra bucks and know I'm getting good service...
