7% of Workers Drink on the Job
 

"BUFFALO, N.Y. - Just over 7 percent of American workers drink during the workday ? mostly at lunch ? and even more, 9 percent, have nursed a hangover in the workplace, according to a study.

Young, single men are tied most often to workplace-related drinking, especially managers, salespeople, restaurant workers and those in the media, according to the findings by the University at Buffalo's Research Institute on Addictions."

Somehow this doesn't surprise me that this study was done in Buffalo, maybe it's cause there is nothing to do in Buffalo other than drink. It's one way to keep you warm during those cold winters!

I have no problem to beleive the bar/restaurent scene is full of drunks ... and about the hangover, it happens once in a while, get over it

What can i say, in Lithuania in school where i was learning at least 20% of all students every single day were drinking beer :)

I would never!!! Well wait that's a lie... cmon ladies some of us don't take weekends off, and don't take off on holiday. Granted I'd draw a destinct line between working on a development project with the team and breaking into a bottle of wine or two... and dealing with customers or customer assets of any form under the influence. A beer at lunch is fine with me, even when I was managing people in an office... but use your best discretion, or get burned.

i never drink on the job. only time i ever have is when i was finishing something up for like 20 minutes and my friends were about to pick me up to go to the bar. i dont drink at home though unless i have people over and we're doing something.

I guess it depends... alot of times my job is working a 72 hour stretch on whatever the task at hand may be. Now I'd like to see someone do a 72 hour stretch without a drink. Why do you think I use super glue to fix me wounds! The damn docs been up longer than I have!
