internext vegas...
 

from a newbie perspective i must say that it seems to be a very bad idea to have internext during another convention, especially TWO other conventions...

i noticed alot of non-webmaster types running around all over the place...

the venitian was too damn big of a venue i think, which only magnified the emptyness of the convention floor...

it seems more actual biz gets done during gatherings of folks OFF the convention floor... maybe it is because people can get to know each other better in a more personable environment, and are able to get an actual feel for one another...

every person i spoke with said that they were not happy with the show...

it also seems that it is more about being able to prove ones ability to afford the trip than anything else... this is another thing that everyone was also saying to me... as i would make the comment of it basically being about showing off, being able to say you were there, everyone else was saying that they feel the same way...

miami was my first show, and it was much more fun and seemed to be more conductive to business...

i might have been impressed by some of the good people that i was afforded the opportunity to meet, but i was NOT, however impressed with the show itself...

which is really bad when it didnt even impress a newbie such as myself.

I must say though... This year's parties were better than past parties by far.

being able to aford the show isn't the issue really. we can afford the show jsut fine, but knowing what the result will be before you spend the money is where the skill is. i knew it was gonna be a cluster fuck. i also wanted to see my friends. had the show been what it was for the last two years, i woulda had at least a 20x20 booth, maybe a bigger one. i went on a shoestring budget purposely just to see the people that i enjoy spending my time with. didn't even step onto the showfloor once. why would i want to spend tons of money on a room that i don't even see until im too exhausted to go on running around vegas? just to sleep 2-3 hours. thankfully for me, my friends had my back and i stayed with them in the suite. i am still trying very hard to not believe that they don't care about the internet people. some of them do, like farley and susan, but i don't think everyone over there is paying attention to the internet people. this is not good. i know a little more about the show in march thing, but its not appropriate for me to go posting it here. all i know is i am glad i went with my gut and didn't commit to that huge booth that we were going to get.

I was just approached on ICQ by someone from AVN and was told that the March date was tentative, and not carved in stone, and that March was suggested because of people complaining about the combination of Internext with the AEE show.
