A remake of this movie would break the box office!

One of the greatest movies of all time.....

SCARFACE!

Phoenix 01-10-2006 07:34 PM

i dont think they could remake it yet...but if they did it would be cool if
pacino was Sousa

EdgeXXX 01-10-2006 07:34 PM

I gotta say, I think if you remade scarface it would TANK big time. It would be nearly impossible to improve on the original. :2 cents:

I disagree. If it was made poorly, than yeah. But if you got together some of the original cast and a kick ass director and used top of the line lenses made by panavision the way they're meant to be used. You'd have a hit for sure

Dirty F 01-10-2006 08:25 PM

Uhm no way that movie needs a remake. Not a single minute of it.

can't forget top of the line lenses made by panavision

MacDaddyPlaya 01-10-2006 08:27 PM

Scarface is already a remake. The original Scarface was made in 1932 starring Paul Muni.

Too bad I haven't seen both..

sickkittens 01-10-2006 09:29 PM

I hope they never make a remake. Some things should just never be touched.

Beat me to it,
Although pacino admits he had the worst Cuban accent ever.
The acting was pretty bad IMO
Did it even do well in the box office? So technically it would probably do better than pacino's first scarface

Mike Okitch 01-10-2006 09:42 PM

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

It did really well in the box office. However, they really tried to down-play it's real success because it influenced a lot of people in a really bad way.

reed_4 01-11-2006 12:33 AM

movie remakes are good but nothing beats the original. :thumbsup

Kevsh 01-11-2006 12:35 AM

They can't ever remake this - there are some movies even Hollywood wouldn't dare try to redo. I mean is there any reasonably young actor that would even have a chance of living up to Pacino's Tony Montana? No way.

btw, they did try to make a copy-cat "remake" in New Jack City which was plain awful.

Doctor Dre 01-11-2006 12:36 AM

Some movies (like godfather too) are just good as they are...

dij 01-11-2006 02:10 AM

I bet remake of mona lisa will be a hit aswell

je_rome 01-11-2006 02:17 AM

remakes thru the years have been synonymous with shitting on the original

I can't agree more...

Far-L 01-11-2006 03:10 AM

One: The Pacino version already is a remake.

Two: No single lens or camera makes a story better.

Three: What's the point? There are tons of hood-rises up-crashes and burns movies. Been there done that and rented the video.

Remakes seldom surpass the greatness of the first except for this one.. Personally, I could say Al Pacino's version did great.. :thumbsup

escorpio 01-11-2006 04:45 AM

They should remake it using rappers as actors! And give it a hip-hop soundtrack. Hell yeah, boy!

just kidding!

who 01-11-2006 04:58 AM

They should remake Terminator 3.

True, but holywood dosent remake movies that were a flop, or "broken" they remake hits hoping that they can use the first versions success or popularity to make money the second time around.

But I agree, I dont think it should be remade!

pornguy 01-11-2006 10:17 AM

You could never remake that movie and have it come out better. Now re doing the color and re releasing it on the big screen would be nice.

too bad panavision doesn't sell lenses

NickPapageorgio 01-11-2006 10:20 AM

On a Pacino note, I can never watch Carlito's Way and NOT want him so badly to make it onto the train at the end. Like every time I watch it, I have this anxiety in my stomach about how bad I want him to get away lol. Anyone else? Or am I just wierd?

it's not really a remake...different characters and different plot...they used the title (most of it) and the premise from the original, but that's about it...

mrthumbs 01-11-2006 10:23 AM

Scarface with pacino already was a remake

edit: ok..

dvsb 01-11-2006 12:49 PM

there is no fucking way they can re-make SCARFACE...

the movie is great on its own... and what the fuck is wrong with producers and writers and directors these days... remakes generally suck ass compared to the originals.. who wants to see the same movie twice anyways.. like really fuck. who the hell are they going to cast for the role.. John Leguizamo?.. if they did, it would suck even more.

This really pisses me off.

i hate fucking remakes, fuckin writers should get off their lazy asses and write something original for once. i swear ever since the millenium (even a bit before) shit is getting STALE.

go to hell hollywood.

Relax, Skippy. Don't take things too seriously.

Wiggles 01-11-2006 01:55 PM

not old enough for a remake, and too good to remake, it'd be like remaking Braveheart.

remake scarface? the remake would most likely suck compared to the original...

Elli 01-11-2006 02:31 PM

Remake Scarface? No way! I am getting so tired of all the remakes going through Hollywood, like they ran out of original ideas, or decided to stop paying for new scripts.

Recent remakes:
King Kong (no complaints there)
Assault on Precinct 13
The Phantom of the Opera
Guess Who (Look Who's Coming to Dinner)
The Honeymooners
The Amityville Horror
House of Wax
the Longest Yard
Fun with Dick & Jane
Bewitched
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Dukes of Hazzard
Oliver Twist
the Fog (never should have been redone)
The Poseidon Adventure
the Shaggy Dog
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (remake of Prizzi's Honor)
The Italian Job

Imagine a Godfather remake with today's actors?

I'd imagine Hollywood would go something like this:

Don/Vito Corleone = James Gandolfini
Michael Corleone = Keanu Reeves
Sonny Corleone = Brad Pitt
Tom Hagen = Bruce Willis
Fredo = Michael Imperioli (from Sopranos)
Tessio = Michael Richards (aka Kramer)
Clemenza = Frank Vincent (from Sopranos/Casino)
Kay = Jessica Simpson or Tara Reid
Connie = Katie Holmes
McCluskey (The Cop) = Sean Connery

:helpme

I agree on the remake phenomenon ... Hollywood is getting lazier every year and just looking to make a quick, easy buck instead of making good movies ..

btw, I thought Mr & Mrs. was a very loose remake of Hitchcock's Mr & Mrs. Smith - or did it just borrow the name? I know Prizzi's had a similar storyline and was a much better film!
