hehe, thats funny. I look at lottery/gambling (same thing) as a bit of a thrill. I havent bought a lottery ticket in ages though, or gambled. But when I do, I look at it as paying for a thrill. Like buying a book or magazine. (it's just consumed faster).

But planning to fund retirement with it? haha, duh.

The saddest think is that if they invested and compounded the money they people waste on lottery over the years it may actually be enough to retire.

I saw a guy WITH HIS KID buying about $30. worth of lottery tickets. One of them won over $100. and he blew the whole chunk on more lottery tickets. I'm sure that kid is going to turn out just great!

Only time I play is when the powerball gets up over 100 million or so. And I buy like 8 tickets. Other than that I dont play. Buying those 8 tickets is just for the fun "what if" factor. Makes you think of things you would like to have. It can be motivating too. Even if you dont win you think.. Hmm I didnt win but if I get my ass in gear I can be a millonaire in the next 1-4 years. I dont buy cause I think Ill win, but more just for that "what if" thing. :thumbsup
