Sirius is so much better than XM radio

I have both and Sirius has at least a dozen more channels that I like. Now that they have Howard, it's the icing on the cake.

flashfire 01-09-2006 04:44 PM

are you just comparing them for now and will dump whatever you dont like? or are you keeping both? just curious

betsy 01-09-2006 04:47 PM

i'm happy with my XM for now... but i'm sure i'll have both eventually. I see it kinda as like.. HBO and Showtime or something.

Certainly if i ever get myself a new car ill get Sirius in there so i can listen to stern.

fetishblog 01-09-2006 04:48 PM

Howard Stern is a faggot. I have XM and I'm happy with it. I only listen to about a half dozen stations anyways, and my favorite station is online only, so...

EroticySteve 01-09-2006 04:51 PM

Between the two services there is no comparison.

Sirius wins, hands down.

The HBO/Showtime comparison is way off though. It's more like VCR vs. DVD player if you're looking to compare technology and options.

XM had the cooler startup, the relationship with GM and some distinct marketing advantages and their service isn't bad, but it's definitely not Sirius.

I'm a Howard fan as well as an Opie and Anthony fan, but I won't bother with O&A until they make the switch to Sirius and that won't happen so bye bye O&A.

I have XM in my new Acura, which I get free for a few months. Sirius I got to listing to Stern in my office.

betsy 01-09-2006 05:07 PM

*shrug* the reason i made that comparison is because they both have different content.... i wasn't talking technology wise.

Doctor Dre 01-09-2006 05:08 PM

We suck in canada we have censored radio

BergyK 01-09-2006 05:11 PM

How is the stock for sirius radio doing? Anyone know!

bopha 01-09-2006 05:17 PM

We've had XM for a few years and really love it. We'll probably pick up Sirius and get rid of one of the subscriptions we have for XM. We don't need 3 XM subscriptions in the house.

I like XM for AirAmerica. Not on Sirius..

Jace 01-09-2006 05:21 PM

I have not heard Sirius too much, but I have XM included with Directv and love it

I am really into electronic music, so having a station that plays new music and mixes is great...the Thump Funk show is amazing, plus they broadcast the Essential Mix while it is happening, a live feed....i don't think Sirius does that

I don't listen to it anyways.

Pornwolf 01-09-2006 05:37 PM

Sirius is light years ahead of XM. Stern only helped with promotion, it was already good before him.

RocketFlow 01-09-2006 09:32 PM

I don't think one can say generally that one is better than the other. It's a matter of preference. If you are in to make a choice, compare the channels, what you like and what you don't like. Some channels are similar on both, while some others are different. After a thorough comparison, I decided for XM because it had the most channels that I was planning to listen to. After a year of service now, I certainly do not regret the decision.

On the contrary to TV channels though, I still find it difficult to justify having both Sirius and XM as suggested by one poster. The differences in programming between Sirius and XM do not seem to be enough to justify paying for both.

Just my 2 cents.

Furious_Male 01-09-2006 09:33 PM

Content is king. Sirius has it.

Sirius has bbc radio1 always on. :thumbsup

so you get the essential mix, annie mac, judge, fergie, etc.

Thump show is sick. I have an acura and while I was getting a little thing fixed on my car got a loan car that had xm in it. Was nice, but in my acura i have sirius.

sfera 01-09-2006 09:45 PM

ya i would agree

yeah, but as Jace said "The Move" is a great station, and I am also into electronic music, and don't neecessarily want constant radio1, just the essential mix

AdPatron 01-09-2006 10:14 PM

XM is for old gannies.

reed_4 01-09-2006 11:29 PM

I also would agree that is better that XM radio. :thumbsup

Matt 26z 01-09-2006 11:38 PM

I have neither, but have heard from a number of people that the sound quality of XM is better.

p1mpdogg 01-09-2006 11:43 PM

buy XNR stock

TonyL 01-09-2006 11:45 PM

Yes Sirius is much better. I have had both. I can't stand XM... Sirius has 3 satellites and XM has two along with some repeaters (XM doesn't even own it's satellites it leases them from Directv). Sirius is true 100% digital, XM is not... Not to mention the programming and stations are 100x better on Sirius.

KRL 01-10-2006 01:09 AM

I have both services now and I've had no signal drops on XM like I've had with Sirius. They each have pretty much the same programs with just a handful of select stations that the other doesn't have.

It costs so little, having both is the way to go. :thumbsup

SomeCreep 01-10-2006 03:43 AM

If I had a choice, I would also go with Sirius.

FlyingIguana 01-10-2006 09:36 AM

if you have xm you're not serius

SquireMD 01-10-2006 09:42 AM

sirius: no baseball

i can't live without baseball

FiReC 01-10-2006 09:50 AM

i have sirius and a nice system in my 4runner and i think the quality blows...xm sounds much better in systems i've heard. sirius changes the compression on channels based on popularity, and octane sounds like a 96kbps mp3. i love the programming but the quality sucks and they should have a longer buffer time/recording options on the decks, here in phoenix it cuts out under freeway overpasses and shit.
