HD Vids and still offering WMV or?
 

New teeny site in Feb with HD vids, wondering : should we offer WMV downgraded or just put a note up that you cant see the vids on dailup since theyre gonna be BIG?

Why not offer both?

I just wonder who still dl the WMVs... we offer AVI DIVX now but theyre smaller and not HD, the HD ones are gonna be big. Dont wanna see cb due to members being mad over vids they cant see cause theyre on dailup

You can get better quality and a smaller filesize with divx then wmv if you know what you're doing.

I know but thats not the issue.

Its : stick to JUST HD and mention it on the site BEFORE they signup or HD + divx or wmv etc

I meant using divx for all versions.
Use a multipass vbr on the video
ac3 on the audio(assuming you have a good source, otherwise just use vbr mp3)

I'd only use 1 codec for all, you can adjust bitrates and resolution to get the filesize were you want it for dailup users.

Most of the "HD" vids sponsor are advertising are nothing impressive, most seem to think widescreen=HD. The quality if nothing to write home about, filesize is 4 times more then it should be. Just wasted bandwidth.
