Do you care who signs up to your site?

Was wondering to site owners how they feel about people signing up for ur site.

I was thinking more along the lines of rapist signing up on dating sites, pedofiles signing up on porn sites.

thoughts? do u care where ur money comes from?

fris 01-08-2006 08:57 AM

well you dont. adult sites dont run background checks or even need to.

Dating sites on the other hand is another story.

I was asking if you cared where the sign ups come from. Obviously sites similar to tawnee and the topanga site all push the barely legal theme.. so they have a better chance of getting "those" members.

curious..

Sarah_Jayne 01-08-2006 09:10 AM

well, I do my best not to run sites that would obviously bait such people but in reality we have no idea who signs up so I don't really see what we could do about it even if we did care.

For all I know Amazon doesn't want pornographers ordering from them.

Green is green.

Cold hard cash doesn't differentiate between deviates.

seems like i generalized too wide again

i was really aiming this topic for dating sites where you DO have information about your member.

Wiggles 01-08-2006 10:54 AM

impossible to ever really tell, so it doesn't really matter.

Do you expect them to have a 'check yes if you are a rapist' box? How elese will they know?

sfera 01-08-2006 11:27 AM

as long as the pay its okay! :thumbsup

KCat 01-08-2006 02:30 PM

Not quite the same thing, but since I run my own site I've had to cut guys off that were starting to demonstrate stalker-ish tendencies. If someone starts spending a lot of money on my site, wants to send me things, keeps asking for me to phone him or give him my phone number...not worth the money if it's going to build expectations in their mind.

aico 01-08-2006 02:48 PM

i don't care who signs up for my sites, as long as they don't do a chargeback, and it's with their own credit card.

some mainstream sites like true.com has tried to enforce a similar "bill" like 2257 to document whether that person in the picture is the actual person.

Many of the new sites claim to do background checks to prevent married and others people whom have criminal records to joining their sites.

Since when is it illegal for a married person to join a dating site?

Trixie Racer 01-08-2006 04:47 PM

I care. The primary reason I will not be having an affiliate program is because I want my site to be a true fan site. My site is marketed primarily from handing out business cards in the club. Therefore, almost all of my traffic will be from people I have personally met. Money is not my motivation behind having a website. For me, it's knowing that almost everyone jacking off to my images has met and interacted with me on a personal level. :2 cents:
