I want to be a German banker

I think they work less than adult webmasters. Everytime I turn around my friends in Germany who work for Commerzbank are on some kind of holiday or vacation. I'm not sure how anything gets done over there, its like happy fun vacation land.

In other news, I woke up at 8am today and can't go back to sleep. At least now I can go eat an omelette. :thumbsup

huh ? ? and whats your point ? by living in germany you are accustomed to your number of holidays , not to the US ones , so you really have no point

google is your friend ,

CheneyRumsfeld 01-08-2006 08:12 AM

shall we start with the 6 weeks paid vacation which is mandated by the government?

in the U.S. if you have 6 weeks vacation you would have been with a company for 30 years or so.

Germany they get that 6 weeks first year.

we were talking OFFICIAL NON HOLIDAY days that were still a non working day

so you have a normal job and you get x amount of time per year that you can take as a holiday

in germany >>> MANY DAYS LIKE THAT

rest of the world >> LESS DAYS LIKE THAT

:2 cents:

Validus 01-08-2006 09:11 AM

LOL funny thread... I am Canadian but work in Germany... It depends what part of germany you are in.. also... I don't feel there are more days off...

WhoGivesaShit 01-08-2006 09:27 AM

them Germans are some lazy ass people.
When I was in the Army I was stationed in Germany for three years and they used the Germans for maintence on the base (carpenters, electricians plumbers etc), so something would get broke and we call to get it fixed and it was always the same old story, the fuckers were off on holiday drinking and fucking and having a great old time.
Even when they did show up you could always smell the booze on them, and their eyes all bloodshot.
them is some partying mofo's

ok you are one stupid fucker

your generalizing makes me wanna puke in your face.

its like saying all germans are nazis

galleriesx 01-08-2006 09:52 AM

There are many parameters to compare,

In France, people work 35 hours per week, with 5 weeks paid holidays per year
In Switzerland, 42.5 working hours per week and 4 weeks paid holidays

Dunno for the other countries

Gunni 01-08-2006 10:08 AM

In Spain we get 30 days holiday (that actually includes weekends for some obscure reason), and the whole country takes august off. It's really amazing, the whole country just switches off for a month.

Oh, and the Germans are Lazy Alcoholic Nazis, and their cars suck. there I said it, twice has my dad bought a new Mercedes that has broken down within 3 months (electrical system). The reason for that can only be that they were drunk on the job!

Mikey 01-08-2006 10:10 AM

i used to work for commerzbank

EVERYONE works less than any serious adult webmaster Shoehorn :1orglaugh

On average, yea, Europe (and most of the rest of the world) work less hours than their counterparts in North America and this still appears to be on an upward trend.

Can't say it's a good thing... there is nothing wrong with doing a lump of work, but we were never put on this earth to work silly hours to justify our existance and pay bills. There is a real life to live as well - ya only have one life.

ServerGenius 01-08-2006 02:46 PM

In holland each full-time employee is entitled to 20 days off. That might be
more than in the US but you have to consider that Europeans work at least
twice as hard while he-s at his job.....it's all about productivity baby :winkwink:
That's why europeans can have more days off, we get the job done faster than
you guys :upsidedow

ServerGenius 01-08-2006 02:47 PM

By the way, isn't G.W. Bush more days on vacation than he's at work? He is
more often on his ranch than he's in the white house. :1orglaugh

And Denmark.
37 hour work weeks, 6 weeks paid vacation other than that I think we have pretty much the same number of holidays the US has.

pornguy 01-08-2006 05:34 PM

Only in the states do you work to live, and live to work.

PixeLs 01-08-2006 07:39 PM

A perfect place for me I guess. I love field vacations! :thumbsup

Alex 01-08-2006 08:58 PM

I think that generally is true.

Everytime i have vactioned somewhere i have talked to people from European countries, mostly Germany and France. They usually get 4-6 weeks paid leave per year. Thats a lot more than those in the U.S

wedouglas 01-08-2006 09:02 PM

I beleive I heard that Germans have more days off work.

I can't confirm because I don't work in Germany.

Just what I heard though.

Doctor Dre 01-08-2006 09:44 PM

I've seen a TV show where they compared americans work habbits to canadians, and I think average, canadiasn had like 2 weeks off more then americans. Something like that
