Why $300K? Doesn't sound like a special figure. How about first $50K or $100K or $1M. But $300K? :)

50K is quite easy in this biz and much easier in Ebay and split marketing. $1M well, that would bring the roaches and haters out. 300K seems like an accessible enough number that many driven and aspiring webmasters can relate to.

Damn, you beat me by a year. Did you notice that the next 300K-500k went by much faster than the first 300k? Did you fuck around with real estate to 'speed things up'? I have to admit I dipped into some quick real estate flipping.

Also, to those that did it, do you have a SEP IRA or another form of retirement plan?

I did it when I was 28, my first year in this biz after I got out of the Army in '97.
I went from making $26k a year (army pay) to making over $300k just a year later.

My best year ever was 2000, but I wont say how much I made :glugglug
